An investigation into Frontier's actions on Combat Logging

Dear Interdictors,

What a nice piece of "eristic dialectic", or for those not so familiar with such terms, a nice piece of "Trumpism". Or arabic juristicion, where a r_aped woman gets sentenced to jail for sex before marriage!?!

Are you completely crazy now?!?
Has it never come to your minds, that YOU are doing something wrong? ^^
How arrogant and aloof is this approach?

So far it seemed to me, that you are just spoiled kids who have nothing better to do in their affluent neglected lives than spending Saturday afternoon with molesting, annoying or harassing others (who cannot really come after you in any [legal] way, btw, so there is a huge aspect of gutlessness in it as well).

But after this: Get professional help!
Fast!

i have to back death here.

He is completely right. The way this agenda is driven is just bad. SDC never could have done something worse in game. It´s very dirty. Trumpy.

And there is one point you don´t seem to understand: Combat logging is mainly a reaction to another problem, which occured before: Getting attacked everywhere and everytime when possible, no matter if any reason behind it, out of proportion, 4 vs 1, seal clubbing..., you name it. Most of these actions are not punished properly by the game mechanics.

So, if anybody wants to change things, why not start from bottom up? If FD fix this they can look at CL. Not before.

This is not true, those are not the ones that CL most.... I've been seen people CLog to my Cobra Mkiii pirate in anacondas and bigger ships, even when all i did was send a pirate message... Yourt argument is invalid, and numbers? 50% of the encounters end up in Combatlogs...

I play in open all the time, I was pirated once.

ONCE!

So, your argument seems invalid to me. :)

All this back and forth banter about SCD, and who are these guys? Are any of them board members at Frontier? Programmers? Anyone important at all? Probably not.
And if they all quit playing together, would they be missed by anyone at all?

I issue a challenge - go dark, go silent, go play No Man's Sky for 30 days and see if anyone even notices you're not here.

I wager the game and the galaxy will get on without you, and if I'm wrong, then I'll go play No Man's Sky for 30 days.

This is what I'd love to see personally with known noob griefers auto blocked.

New players deserve a fair chance, not being forced to grind up to the griefers level just to play or being forced to play on their own - it really is the worst possible result.

The ensuing cries for solo/PG to be hobbled to force victims back just underlines how wrong this whole situation is. I can totally understand FDev just binning and ignoring CL complaints from SDC/PvP clan members, but I can't understand them allowing those groups to spoil the game for new players and drive them out of Open.

That is my thinking as well if you have the tools then there would be no reason for the non PvP players to combat log they can just block them same with certain griefing groups that like sitting outside stations on CG's all everyone has to do is block them and it ends the problem

Who are the SCD

All this for a minority of players that want take part in unconsensual pvp.

Can we at least moan about something that affects all players, not this vocal anti-social few?

Anyway the thread is rubbish as there is no poll.

;)

Frontier has now conceded that OP is correct on reddit, good job ryan on taking on this issue and wrestling it. Progress has been made.
So, once again the official mouthpiece of FD responds on Reddit. Here's a radical idea, FD, in light of the constant criticism over poor communication: when you have something to say on a subject this emotive, how about giving your official response in the official forums?

Edit: having now read the response, I can perhaps understand the reluctance to air it in more than one place. It's pathetic. I'm reminded of an energy or telecoms company spokesperson squirming on Watchdog as they desperately try to spin a PR nightmare into something positive. It's tragic.

Still, it should make for a good Lave Radio next week.

Official statement on the reddit (which got a more popular thread than here) has more meaning as reddit is visited by journalists and other gaming subreddits

Outstanding!

Indeed. I feel really left out.

FDEV Priorities:
1. Make a beautiful game
2. Make a beautiful game even better
3. Ban cheaters. Several CMDRs that i know of have eventually been shadow banned due to cheating which is why they now use their Alt accounts to continue their PVP griefing.
4. Ban griefers. Ramming CMDRs and having the station kill a CMDR going about his business is as much an exploit as combat logging and should be treated as so. Several youtube/twitch examples of PVP groups doing this. This action bring nothing to the open mode community.
5. Improve P2P wings. The latest update seems to have improved matters.
6. Maintain CMDRs ship in instant for 30 seconds after menu exit or disconnection.... then continue to ignore griefers raging that they cant get their daily salt.

The point is if you read the discussion I was having with the other poster I agreed with some one that perhaps it was time to split the game and have a proper PvE open rather than having to leave it to private groups to run and leave the other open for PvP it was then suggested that this wont stop certain griefers with their tactics at stations etc so a solution would be to have a true blocking tool.
So if you don't want to interact with a certain person in the game you just block them it would stop the griefers as you would never see them again or them see you simple, the PvPer's could also use it if they get someone CL regular they just block that person saves FD having to review all the combat logs complaints and having to put them in the sin bin thus letting them get on with more pressing issues. Although I still think a split of the two groups PvE and PvP is needed.
