Make a Cobra Mk V to get everyone to agree
As someone who has the Cobra Mk4 and still enjoys flying the bucket of bolts from time to time, I woud be very happy if it became available for everyone.
Don't see why people are arguing about the exclusivity. I thought that was clear and i acknowledged it in my OP.
Why not? Moar ship, moar fun. Give it a couple of distinguishing features and we're good to go.
There's nothing wrong with having "trophies" in various forms that cannot be earned again. Entitlement is way too high among folks. But I'd love to see a CMIV equivalent, because...well moar ships is moar fun. Also, I get to watch everyone that's argued about having it realise how bad it is
As someone who has the ship I really dont care if they make it available to all. In fact it would be better for the game if they did. So go ahead for me!
I don't think that FDev can do anything about the Cobra MkIV without basically breaking a contract.
What FDev could do is add more small ships that fit in different niches. One could be a small ship with 8 internal slots, an other could be a new Cobra Mk V (maybe a more combat oriented version or a more exploration oriented version?). The next one could be a Cobra like ship with a centered pilots seat…
More small ships would be nice. Hey, even more medium sized ships and even large sized ships. As long as we get more ships that look different and have different strengths and weaknesses.

Might as well have just started a thread asking for another small ship in the game that just so happened to be similar to the Cobra Mk. IV, coincidentally, of course.
It wouldn't really address the real "issue" most people seem to be having with the Cobra Mk. IV though, in my opinion.
It's a red herring the real argument is "I won't share my toys", but that sounds weak hence exclusivity.
They aren't theirs to share in the first place though. Some people just think they are for some strange reason.
I'm pretty sure I already promised my access to the Cobra Mk. IV to someone else two years ago, for all the good it did. Never used the ship myself, nor do I care to, which is also irrelevant.
I have access to the Mk4 on Xbox but not on PS4 or PC. Obviously if frontier made it available again I would have to complain and cry a lot about how a miserable scrub like me should have access to something that makes me a special snowflake, that frontier promised would only be available to me and not a filthy Johnny come lately like me!
Why would I care if someone else has the same toys as me? Why not put the Mk4 behind a timed paywall, anyone who doesn’t have access currently would have to have say 50hrs game play and a £4 purchase from the store. It would hardly be pay to win and they could even give players that had the original access requirement a special paint job.

Paying for ships carries some dodgy baggage, that's the only reason I'd give it away free with ship skin purchases.
If support can organize it they can transfer mine to anyone who wants it.
Maybe I should start using a Cobra Mk. IV in multicrew as social justice charity work for Elite players who don't have access to it. Something tells me that probably wouldn't go over very well for some reason though.
Oh well. What'll you do? Just what you can, I suppose, which in this case, is nothing.
And neither is it our fault, as PS4 players, that we've never had the chance to obtain it. Why is it so difficult to understand that this is the reason why PS4 players are so vocal about not being able to have a CM4?
Personally, I've moved on (besides I want a Moray Starboat!) & just keep my CM3 in the garage for my nostalgia trips.
But this is surely a good compromise. People who want it, get it & FD make some (more) money, but I hardly think a CM4 could be considered in the 'pay-to-win' category.
Just have a poll for everyone who has the Cobra Mk4 I would bet the percentage would point to that everyone doesnt give a hoot if its released now or not after all we have all had our fun with it anyways.
Certain salty elements would even find *that* difficult to stomach... Look at the furore that accompanied the Golden wireframe paint job releases after the silver exclusives from wayback when.
I'm not sure how well a clone would be received.
Not to mention that wouldn't be enough for some other people; they'd now be posting complaints that "First Year" Commanders have two (*voice breaks*) exclusive ships; and if Frontier excluded the "First Years" from this new exclusive ship .. there would be tears of that as well.
So basically, Frontier can't win on this.
