Another solution to ganker problem

The solution is to eat a bit of pride & acknowledge you were outmanoeuvred by someone with more experience in that situation than you.

Then learn from the experience. Either that you don't like it & should take steps to avoid it happening again (lots of solutions are already available in the game) or that it's a challenge worth learning how to get past to achieve your objective, then you never really need to be concerned about it again.

On other hand all the con's against op's proposal can be used against ANY C&P method currently in use. So basically people are against it because they do not want any consequences for certain playstyles.

You mean.. If they beat me it must be a hack?
That was a pretty stupid question tbh.
Ofc not.

I mostly play organized PvP and rarely engage in organic lately, yet I could see hull stop taking damage at 50% until the CMDR remembered to disable the trainer several minutes (and PA volleys) later, I could see a ship wake inside a station, and even a Sidewinder that could emit Thargoid shutdown field and was capable of oneshotting you with a small laser. Oh and another ship that could conjure Thargoid interceptors anywhere, at least that one was funny.

I even have them on video but I cannot put the links here because of the stupid 'no naming and shaming' rule of this forum.

I've seen players blown up by stations because they shot a 'ganker' who was shooting and deliberately missing them in the no fire zone of a station. Give it a couple of weeks and the exploits for this threads's idea would be all across the game.

They could just bring "paintball" style or "laser tag" weapons to the game that emulate damage without actually causing damage for those who want "friendly"PvP, but we all know it's not supposed to be "friendly". They want the satisfaction that you got a rebuy screen and it's going to "teach you a lesson".

There's lots of ways they could counter "ganking" but we all know damned well they're never going to do anything about it.

These threads, although temporarily interesting, will eventually disappear into the abyss that are what we know as the forums.

Anyways current system does not have real disincentives to steer criminal behauviour to anarchy systems. OP's suggestion would have more teeth than anything currently in use.

It will help zilch protecting the most vulnerable player group against gankers/griefers: New players. They don't have much to begin with, which results in
a) The ganker/griefer getting a negligible fine because the ship they hunted down wasn't much worth to begin with
b) The victim being unable to rebuy the ship so skips the rebuy, resulting in no fine for the ganker/griefer save for the usual 10K bounty for murder + a notoriety point.

If your Imp Cutter can possibly get ganked to the rebuy screen then honestly you'd deserve to be obliged to pay 200% insurance cost instead of 5%.
In 1v1 typically does not get ganked to rebuy screen. But that does not chance the fact that ganking is unwanted tax on others finances. And does not carry any deterring penalties.

I think having frequent rebuys reduce the amount covered if report crimes is switched on might motivate Cmdrs to take more care to avoid rebuys. I don't think anyone should be unreasonably punished for making one-off mistakes though.
