Great to see another portion of questions answered! Here's mine, yet again:

QUESTION:

Do you think the below proposition regarding adjusting how trade dividends work in game is something that could be implemented at some point in the future:
To be able to adjust the percentage of dividends yourself and that dividend comes direct from your profit margin. This way you can hire escorts and then barter for the percentage before hiring.

This would greatly enhanced the trader-escort coop play in game. At this moment it's not exactly that great ;)

Will CQC outposts and general areas be added into the general game world?
We intend to use the technology developed for CQC arenas to add interesting locations around the galaxy.

Is this a hint? Did you really mean to say "around the galaxy" as opposed to "around inhabited space" ? ;)

For cripes sake. Exploration.

FDEV, current bugs aside, to reach the rank of Elite Explorer should require more than just going out into the void and honking a freakin' horn till 160,000,000 credits is earned.

Where on earth is the skill in that? All it is now is a test of mental endurance.

And boy, am I being tested.

Thanks for the update!

I have a question.

Can any kind of hint be dropped, subtly or otherwise, that there may be plans for the existence of gas giant cetaceans in game?

I'm honestly not expecting an answer but I would be remiss not to ask :)

For once I agree with Pecisk here ;)

The word "revamp" was probably the wrong one to use. Now if only you'd asked something like "Are there any plans to make Exploration vastly more interesting as an in-game role?"

To wit; I hereby ask Zac : Are there any plans to make Exploration vastly more interesting as an in-game role?

;)

Or better still: Should we just give up hope on the sort of exploration mechanics in the DDA? We still don't have ANY exploration going on, just tourism. Giving us some more stuff to find (comets, generation ships, etc., etc) would be great. But if it is still just sitting on top of a placeholder, it will still be a deeply disappointing mechanic.

A few days ago we got the "Discussion with Mark Allen on damage and defenses"
But there were a few things left unanswered...
Sadly this question was left unanswered in there...so i will ask in here, maybe i get an answer then^^
How do Explosives and Missiles work?
so shields take 120% damage from Thermic weapons but are resistant to Kinetic and highly resistant to Explosive damage. Reactive and Mirrored armour will adjust the Defences of your hull to different damage types.
We also know the values of the Bulkheads.

But how exactly do Missiles work in that system?
The Missile Rack shows a Penetration value of "F".
So does that mean, that Missiles cant penetrate armor, wont create that "ray" through the ship to hit modules, and just deal explosive damage to the hull?
I dont think that Explosions create a "sphere" in which they deal damage either, right?

New things to find is not the same as a "exploration revamp". It's an addition. An addition they DID say they were planning to do in that very answer.

Are there any plans to revamp exploration in general?
Not a revamp as the core system is solid, however we do intend to provide more things for explorers to encounter.

If you look on the exploration forum, the most requested change to exploration is "gameplay" enhancements, so this kind of a bit concerning when you say the "core system is solid". The passive scanning mechanic is often described as one of the most boring activities in the game, and is one of the major reasons that new players quickly abandon exploration for more engaging activities.

So when you say there will be new things to encounter, will we also get new ways to interact with them? For example, more interactive scanners, probes, and drones?

The thread doesn't suggest a rewrite of the system, it cries for added content - which is confirmed to be added.
I suggest you reread the thread since there are many cries for more intricate mechanisms to exploring.

By the way: you're a quick reader if you got through all that in 3 minutes.

Q: Will there be more missions that don't require a hyperspace jump?

We will get missions where you need to travel to multiple systems in 1.4 (which is great) but I would like to see some missions taking place in your home system.

Nice data there, are we to assume that for a Cmdr who is currently Deadly the matrix follows the obvious progression? Yes, I'm pointing out it seems to have been truncated on the right.

Also, to all those people that interpreted the Powerplay manually about merits decay differently I say :p~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .

Question:

What is the rationale behind RES instances picking one of several predefined "spawn patterns" upon instance creation, and then sticking to it? It seems rather arbitrary and immersion-breaking to have to leave and re-enter an RES instance until the player finds a spawn pattern they prefer.

To be added on top of. Nobody, including yourself, is suggesting dissing the current system for something else.
Right, now read the remark in the OP

edit: You do realise adding new things to see, doesn't add anything to the game mechanism of exploring, right?

It seems this is where we're talking past each other.
