Oh for the love of...this was a simple yes or no question and it still wasn't answered.
So I'll "re-ask" it again - we like the look and feel of the CQC areas, will they actually be added to the current universe - yes or no?
We didn't ask about "interesting locations" being added, we specifically asked about the CQC outposts.
So I'm going to take this as a "no" until it's properly answered otherwise.

Then again, he did answer some of the the question; you didn't like the way he answered it....And as Kemo said; no don't expect CQC Arenas.

so your just adding more things to see, not making it more entertaining. GG

I think many of us find 'new things to see' very entertaining.

I was quite happy with that answer. I can't see them adding the CQC arena into the game in full, but assets from it (stations, outposts, signs, lighting etc) may well be, and why wouldn't they, makes sense after creating them all to roll them out to the game proper..

I'm repping you on this, good comment/point.

We don't want the full CQC game, just the asteroid field & station setup so we can "roll our own" in-house impromptu PvP CQC that other ships can hop in and "watch" from a distance without the rest of CQC getting in the way.

Sounds like what Michael said; but just use standard grouping mechanics to use those areas.

Exploration is rather boring inside a cockpit looking at those huge masses without the ability to land or get out of your ship. Landing will increase the need for exploration, the need for mineral scanners, and what ever else FD can dream of that adds to the EF feature set. Getting out of the cockpit.........not in any previous Elites.......so I'm thinking more social activities, and what ever else the engine can accomplish. The doors will be blown off most of the complaints once we see these features implemented. I'd like to see myself shut up about it.

YAY! excellent. +1

Wrong thread I know ... but I had some crazy thoughts : for a system that has not been scanned yet (and you don't see the "explored by ..." message on it) then you have to go through some kind of mini-game (think Interdiction but different) when jumping to that star system. Depending upon your skill / drive condition / etc the end result is a jump +/- some distance from the star. It's basically a test of how well you can plot.

Another suggestion would be to not give the alignment indicator when jumping to a new undiscovered system and you have to point where you think the star is (there would perhaps have to be clues and you have to use your navigation map to help - accuracy based upon modules installed / condition of modules / etc) .. the nearer you are to the exact star direction determines how close you jump to it upon arrival , again +/- some random factor. [so think of the system being a bulls eye and concentric circles around it, each band representing +/- 1000ls for example)

(Both suggestions could mean you jump into a star ... a fate worse than death, but would really add some drama ! :D)

Good suggestions; or not getting that alignment indicator for any number of reasons; Perhaps an unexpected anomaly; ie. alien wreck with appropriate 'exploration' values...

Is FD planning any adjustments to stellar forge and the galaxy based upon ongoing discoveries or is the view that the model is good enough or complete enough for now?

Are comets still "on the list".

Oh please please please please say yes, Devs!

Time for a repost I see...

Michael

I just hope that is exactly what they meant :)

Disappointed that the NPC ships will just be given new phrases to spam, rather than actually be interactive. Not only would this provide so much gameplay, the game is pretty sterile without it (in terms of interaction) given the fact that 99% of 'contact' is with NPCs. Surprised that arena style pVp is a priority (potentially drawing ppl from the main game) and even Powerplay than this basic interaction.

Are there plans to incorporate this? Even a set of stock phrases with stock replies based on allegiance, how aggressive they are, etc would be a big step.

This information is excellent. So glad that FD is being more open about these kind of things. Higly appreciated, keep ´m coming.
Perhaps best to have some kind of thread which links to the earlier ones.

You guys really need to learn patience.
And then maybe helping them fine tune things.
That would probably be the most helpful.
Dunno if you can handle it though.

I think wed all be happy to wait 6 months for what we want, we are only pesterting to show that we WANT it to give FD an idea that it's not just the pew pew crowd who want things

Devs, I hope you are at least aware of the Exploration Community Request List and are finding it helpful :)

See my sig. It has a poll and a good amount of input

Will CQC outposts and general areas be added into the general game world?
We intend to use the technology developed for CQC arenas to add interesting locations around the galaxy.

I see a few other people have already commented on this one but just to add another voice ... I like this news VERY much.

I think we just have to sit tight and wait for the news.
And even if it isn't anyone's perfect world to not throw the toys out but give things a good go then give good feedback because nothing is ever perfect.
I am so looking forward to it though.
I have hopes for exploration becoming that bit more interesting and challenging, dunno how that'll affect the explorers though.
But I'm super-positive atm, this will probably change though because a wee bit Human...it's not even genetic, just orphaned at an early age and adopted. Like really, who did you think taught me to speak and fly a Spaceship?
I'm on the hype train though, which is rare for me.

@DrKaii:
I'm aware of it, not sure if I will have the time to do it until after the 6th. Sorry but life and I had to pass on it before.
RL but what do.

Will there ever be some more randomly injected tasks again like the NV Titan lark? It doest even have to an external prize, maybe an abandoned ship to claim (canisters of registration documents or something). The point being they were good times!

I really like the information that's coming out from the ED Developers these days. Please keep it up.

Q: Are you aware there are players in this game called explorers who do not share your assessment of exploration?

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=141440
Lots of ideas for enhancing exploration in this post. Realistically too many to implement but MY priority ideas are:
-Captain's log/history of visited systems. This would be a place to capture notes on RES there, ships & components available for sale, etc
-Exploration missions -- e.g. go find an earth like planet
-Ability to scan/collect flora & fauna & minerals, find intelligent life
-Find/scan ship wrecks (including alien ships) and salvage components
-Interact with stations without docking
-Ability to bookmark select systems
-Different grades of Discovery Scanners that provide additional information (flora/fauna, etc)
.
This list doesn't include planetary landings, which has already been confirmed to be included at some point.
.
QUESTION:
Are any of these ideas being considered?

We really need something like this. It doesn't have to be huge or complex. I imagine it working almost like a personal Twitter. Each entry is tagged by time, date, and star system.

-Exploration missions -- e.g. go find an earth like planet

LONG overdue and I can't imagine it would be hard to implement.

-Ability to scan/collect flora & fauna & minerals, find intelligent life

Probably implemented with planetary landings

-Find/scan ship wrecks (including alien ships) and salvage components
-Interact with stations without docking

Both good ideas.

-Ability to bookmark select systems

You mean in the Stellar map? What might simplify that is if the Captain's Log makes the system names hotlinks (click on them and it'll take you there on the stellar map) and flag favorite entries.

-Different grades of Discovery Scanners that provide additional information (flora/fauna, etc)

Yeah, but not just additional information, a more engaging way of scanning.

QUESTION:
Are any of these ideas being considered?

The fauna/flora issue is not spoken of very frequently. If my dreams were going to come true at Gamescom, FD would show off a procedural life generating system, like NMS has, but much less cartoony and rooted in various ideas from speculative/astro-biology. They would announce that pilots could transfer these creatures and plants between systems as an aid to terraforming new worlds, trade and profit from them, or protect them and their native worlds from profit seeking pilots and corporations.

Also, you could smuggle the more bitey ones into your friends ship as a joke.

That was the idea in the link provided, but I like your idea better. Some way to flag systems we might want to revisit.
