Any plans to add content?

Someone on another forum bought this game, general concencus was there is no content beyond the initial grind towards a beter ship, a refund quickly ensued.

Comparing this game to another sandbox, lets say Mount & Blade, really shows off how much ED is lacking in the content department.

So, any plans?

I'd rather Frontier focused on making interactions with the world deeper, more complex and more believable than adding content which people will burn through in a matter of hours and ask 'is that it?' eventually anyway.

Also you talk about content and bring up...Mount and blade? M&B is a pretty good example of a game with interesting core gameplay making up for a dearth of content. (also I would hardly call either ED or M&B sandbox games)

Sounds like he missed the whole BGS part of the game. The content is there, we just need more tools to play with the content. It's the tools that are lacking.

ED is not a player story driven RPG, if you are after that then you got the wrong game.

ED has plenty of content, it just does not feed it to you on a silver platter with a matching knife and fork nor a servant to cut up your food for you.

No, no plans to add "content".

None whatsoever.

That's why we don't get major patches every few months.

(does M&B have 100 billion locations & trillions of literally planet-sized places to explore? Must check it out.)

You are comparing a spacesim with a huge procedurally generated galaxy to Mount & Blade?
Of course I want more content, improved mechanics, more diversity etc., but these types of games are incomparable.

FDev want to add FP gameplay content, and content involving planets with atmospheres (flora/fauna), but stuff like that is a lot of work and will take time.

I find mount and blades choice of spaceships to be somewhat limited.

Can't rep you atm.

None that we know of, and seems FD have little interest in story telling.

eg. we were supposed to find out more about 'the missing' in season 2. turned out to be the odd dead megaship with a few paragraphs of text. Could have had some epic gameplay and mysteries around generation ships but nope.

Same with thargoids. A new model or POI every few months. That's got epic potential too, but the current mechanic is to prevent stations flipping to "burning" state on a weekly server tick by fighting thargoids in isolated USS. Was hoping we'd be able to actually defend stations under attack, but nope.

i was hoping something would come with the thargoids but the waiting has been excessive and the results absent

anyway, time to change my review to negative, this simply isn't a game i could tell people to get into

Ehem, ED includes the ability to improve your ship (and your ship's armour), you can pick "your" faction (you can even have your "own" player faction), you can get allied with factions across the Galaxy, you can bring factions into war with other factions, and you can conquer stations, bases and whole star systems (even "enemy" ones), and you do all of that while "commanding your own army" (i.e., your ship). The way ED presents this to you may be different, but is another topic.

No, no plans. Go back to moaning on a different forum. /wave.

Not that M&B has any content, apart from ride around and hit things...

Yes, I am comparing these, because if procedurally generated content means the content can't have depth, its a worthless system and should be left. Of course thats nonsense and simply not true, just saying.

Maybe they would have been able to get more done, if they hadn't revamped certain systems over and over?

They keep revamping the engineers system for example, but don't seem to see that you cannot make a grind fun if the underlying game is not attractive.

Give people actual goals to kill 50 ships, making them wanting to do it, and the engineer grind requiring 100 ship kills / roll will no longer be a problem.

Time is a very weak excuse given the state and age of the game.

all the stuff you named is very limited or has no significant impact on the game

comparing E D diplomacy to M B is laughable

ah well, there is a reason why this game has a "mixed" feedback on steam, its nice that you guys are happy with the game, a lot of people obviously aren't
