Simple ask for tips/suggestions - with clear caveat assuming I am on right planet. Did a lot of googling since starting Engineers so I know:
1. Prospector thread to find out where and what for confirmed 3-2-1 planets with the rares you need (e.g. yttrium)
2. Wavescanner site that shows precise image and sound of rock types you want (e.g. metallic meteorite double band + the unique sound)
Ok - so my difficulty therefore not how to find a planet with yttrium on it for example, nor how do I know what to look for - the wavescanner site is brilliant in the picture is worth a thousand words, and video images 10k. So far so good.
My problem seems to be never spawning metallic meteorites in the first place. I land, scout around in all compass directions with my SRV, zero MM signs on my wavescanner. So I either keep going for a long, long.....time. With equal lack of MM showing up on wavescanner.
Or I get back in ship as suggested by some, to take off, then land some distance away to get a new 'instance' of the landing zone for chance at MM spawns. But same luck. I have found precisely 3 yttrium in about 40+ hours of driving SRV, actual driving around time. I am 99.99% sure I am not misreading the wavescanner for signs of MM because obviously the wavescanner site can't be any clearer - the double lines are extremely unique, as well as the sound.
So my problem seems to be getting MM rocks to even spawn, vs. not being able to find them because I don't know which planet to look for them.
Any tips / suggestions for consistently spawning MM rocks on known yttrium planets? I'd like to think it isn't just horrible RNG, but so far that's what it seems to be, but as always, open to suggestions.
