Anybody found Braben's in-game secret(s)?

I'm talking about the one(s) alluded to in the recent Q&A. He seems to imply there's something more than stellar phenomena for us explorers to find out in the black after the recent Wings update. Anybody have any clue what it might be?

There are the various areas which are permit only although it would be rather unfair of him to be referring to something we can't get to.

Proper answer, no not yet.

I feel he's rather set the scene for a Nessie, Bigfoot, Troll, pixie/fairy at the bottom of your garden here, i've been out exploring since early april and haven't really seen anything too anomalous yet :)

Do you think it's something in one of those drafted Unidentified Signal Sources, I have seen these out in systems far away from habitable space and ignored them as I assumed they would be the usual random cargo drops or some odd NPC pirate glitch...

Yeah, that would be rather 'knobish' of him, I agree. I suspect it's something else...

Same here, although I've been doing a lot less exploring recently. Wait, does that Dyson sphere I saw out in the Perseus arm count as anomalous?

:p

If you ever see one further out than 500ly from the nearest faction homeworld (Sol, Achenar or Alioth), definitely see what's up, as that should be the outer limit for seeing that kind of thing, I believe. Unless they DID add something, hehe :D Or it's a glitch.

I'd bet on 'glitch'

I've started paying attention to them. So far it's been mostly pirates and criminals and scrap, but I plan to keep an eye out regardless.

i thought i'd look at a Strong Signal Source, it was around 10 pirates (flying bloody FDLs and Vultures!!!), scared the pants off me, i hotfooted it out of there ASAP in my explorer T6!

During my first exploration to the Coalsack region, I was at least 1500 LY out and ran into a USS after having seen nothing for eons. Quite a spook: I chose not to engage.

If it was long enough ago, that was before they instituted the limits in how far out those things spawn, so you may have made a wise choice, friend ;)

The problem is I am not looking for anything. Jump in, look at the system, scan if interesting, take a pic of pretty and then move on. There could be another commander in the same system and I probably wouldnt even notice.

Truth be told I'm just so excited to have our own exploration sub - forum that I could not give a monkeys for whatever else is out there lol. That said, I am currently 31000LY into my journey and have yet to sniff anything untoward. If there is anything of substance out here in the void (which I sincerely doubt, notwithstanding confirmation to the contrary) then I would hope that the statistical probability of said objects actually being found would increase substantially via Dev intervention triggering spawns. Either that or a clue that tells us more than a wink wink, nudge wink.......

I'm beginning to think that I read more into his statement than there actually is.

I've been pootling around on opposite side of the galaxy for months now, and have yet to come across anything 'out of the ordinary'. I don't doubt what he said, but it would be nice to put a just a little more meat on the bones of that little statement.

I'm totally hooked on exploration, so much so that it's beginning to wind me up a bit. FD gave us an entire galaxy to explore but in reality, (so far at least) apart from the occasional Neutron Field its a desert out here, but I stay out and wander around in the hope I will find an oasis of wonder.

FD I beg you. You've done a fantastic job with the science, but please please add some fiction for us explorers.

It's why were here.

Been out in the black for a few weeks now and I've not seen anything special, plus there are a lot more explorers out here these days too - I know that the Galaxy has quite a few stars but surely someone would have seen something by now......

.... what was that noise ?, sounded like a metal spider crawling on the outside of my hull ........ there it is again, I wonder wh...............

Lol, I actually scanned a moon last night because it looked like it was made of cheese....it wasnt.

Last night I dreamed of a whole ball of black holes and neutron stars cobbled together.
I thought: "I need to get up close for screen shots, even if my ship gets wrecked.".

This may have been my first dream about Elite, and I wonder if it was because of DB talking about strange things out there.

I would, if I knew -at least vaguely- where to look: contact list/radar? USS? Something in system view? Something in hyperspace? DSS reports? Planetary surface? If I try to do everything, I won't come back home in a year; which is not an option, tbh :)
