Not sure what the problem is exactly, whether it is to do with the 'drive assist' but the throttle on my SRV's has a serious 'mind of it's own problem. I didn't really play Horizons so I don't know if it has always been as it is, whether it's changed or whether it's just me?
I will try to do a couple of videos to show the problem but until then I will try to describe what is happening:
So I have my throttle set up so that my primary control for it is the mouse wheel (as it is for my ship) and set to 10% incremental. I push the throttle forward 1 notch and there is nearly always a lag of about 2 seconds before the wheels start moving (mostly). The same for stopping. but it is horribly inconsistent. I mean it works, just, I can get from A to B and I can pick up stuff with the cargo scoop, but most of the time I am fighting against the throttle to do what I want it to do as opposed to what it seems to want to do. It will very often 'stick' and seem to stop moving. And then just when you think it's stopped, even if the throttle is showing 0, it will suddenly decide to move again! But I then go to do something else and the throttle will suddenly move by itself and I will be doing 12m/s!! Especially a pain when I try to stop under the ship or pick up cargo, I have to 'blip' the throttle, forward, off, forward, off, reverse, off just to maintain control.
If I switch off 'drive assist' then the mouse wheel no longer works! What? Please Frontier, someone, sort this out or tell me what I need to change to make it useable.
It's now become my biggest Odyssey headache, and it's 'driving' me nuts!
PS. It does seem to be the drive assist and with it turned off it drives A LOT better. But why does my 'mouse wheel throttle' not work without drive assist!!???
