Well, I just think the downside to advertising is advertising.
Atleast we don't let Graphics card manufacturers have special ship models, like that other game...
Could all the white knights please get off their high horses, thanks.
FD have a revenue stream. They have cosmetic sales, and in the future, expansion sales.
If this was ONLY an advertisement, I would be disgusted.
What a great post. Someone doesn't want advertising in the middle of a game they have already paid for and your response is 'whaaaaaaa'. You sir, are a shining light of insight on this forum. How can I subscribe to your newsletter?
This news item went out a little early - details will be released tomorrow.

But in this case everyone is definitely interested in the product and it potentially adds a bit of excitement when opening up the commodities screen. It's really very easy to ignore if you don't like it. It's not like youtube adverts that make me want to put my head in a vice.

Disgusted? why, for living in reality? there is no chance ED can deliver what they promised without a stable revenue stream. Single box sets , expansions, ship skins and polo shirts aren't going to hack it. I applaud FD-- I think they SHOULD do more in game ads, if it generates revenue, and gets us more game content. AND, it avoids the issue of in game purchases. (which , as I've already stated, are already here, just by third parties -- a revue stream which, in my opinion, FD is foolish to ignore)
If you want a static game, you bought the wrong thing. A constantly evolving game requires constant revenue. Like I said, I hope to see more of this in the future -- it helps ensure we all have a fune game to play.

We paid for the game as it was on release on the 16th December.. So really, anything introduced since that date hasnt been paid for, hence my response to your post which was based on suprise at your shortsighted view of the situation. As for my newsletter, if you cant understand the basic need for FD to actively seek alternative revenue streams to maintain this game sub free, or appreciate them staying clear of easy cash grabs like most F2P models, you wouldnt even understand the index page.
More of this is fine (in moderation, I didn't buy Eto play a digital billboard). Pure advertisements, with no interesting quirks or content is nothing but selling out. I applaud FDEV for the way they handled this.
In addition, Guild wars 1, and 2, Dota 2, CSS. These are all games which survive just fine on a cosmetic sales with no ads model. It's nowhere near required to have ads in your game, even with content updates. People keep saying that, but it's simply not true. Guild Wars 2 is huge, you can't buy gear or stats, and there are no ads, but it gets by just fine.
Please don't confuse a Titan Black with a Titan X. The X is the newest one and is faster. Also, it's not the one they'll be giving away starting tomorrow.
Sweet...I'd love to have a Titan SLI with my 970
