Anyone else searching for the NVIDIA Geforce GTX Titan Black?

Please don't confuse a Titan Black with a Titan X. The X is the newest one and is faster. Also, it's not the one they'll be giving away starting tomorrow.

Well, I just think the downside to advertising is advertising.
Atleast we don't let Graphics card manufacturers have special ship models, like that other game...

But in this case everyone is definitely interested in the product and it potentially adds a bit of excitement when opening up the commodities screen. It's really very easy to ignore if you don't like it. It's not like youtube adverts that make me want to put my head in a vice.

Yeah, newest prototype blah blah and "Titan Black" don't fit together. Titan Black is an old card now.

If this is in fact a Titan X then we'll be golden...

Could all the white knights please get off their high horses, thanks.

FD have a revenue stream. They have cosmetic sales, and in the future, expansion sales.
If this was ONLY an advertisement, I would be disgusted.

Disgusted? why, for living in reality? there is no chance ED can deliver what they promised without a stable revenue stream. Single box sets , expansions, ship skins and polo shirts aren't going to hack it. I applaud FD-- I think they SHOULD do more in game ads, if it generates revenue, and gets us more game content. AND, it avoids the issue of in game purchases. (which , as I've already stated, are already here, just by third parties -- a revue stream which, in my opinion, FD is foolish to ignore)

If you want a static game, you bought the wrong thing. A constantly evolving game requires constant revenue. Like I said, I hope to see more of this in the future -- it helps ensure we all have a fune game to play.

What a great post. Someone doesn't want advertising in the middle of a game they have already paid for and your response is 'whaaaaaaa'. You sir, are a shining light of insight on this forum. How can I subscribe to your newsletter?

We paid for the game as it was on release on the 16th December.. So really, anything introduced since that date hasnt been paid for, hence my response to your post which was based on suprise at your shortsighted view of the situation. As for my newsletter, if you cant understand the basic need for FD to actively seek alternative revenue streams to help support and maintain this game sub free, or appreciate them staying clear of easy cash grabs like most F2P models, you wouldnt even understand the index page.

I haven't ever seen a youtube advert. I, actually, literally forgot about them until I saw one on a friend's computer.
I love AdBlocker. It's a bit mean to people who have YouTubing as a profession, but eh, if I watch a lot of their stuff, I'll give them money directly instead. I hope that, if applications like these keep spreading, then one day maybe advertising will start to get obsolete. We can, hope right?

Ok, no more White Knight type comments please.

Feel free to discuss this, but there's no need for labelling or insulting comments.

Thanks.

More of this is fine (in moderation, I didn't buy E:D to play a digital billboard). Pure advertisements, with no interesting quirks or content is nothing but selling out. I applaud FDEV for the way they handled this.

In addition, Guild wars 1, and 2, Dota 2, CSS. These are all games which survive just fine on a cosmetic sales with no ads model. It's nowhere near required to have ads in your game, even with content updates. People keep saying that, but it's simply not true. Guild Wars 2 is huge, you can't buy gear or stats, and there are no ads, but it gets by just fine.

sorry OT comment, but im compelled to help a fellow Commander in distress.. if you use firefox (even just for surfing youtube) you can use the adblock plus addon.. no more youtube adverts.. its golden!!

Just got to Sagittarius A and found one floating in a USS. I hope noone else turns theirs in before I get back to populated space :(

Exactly. I feel a lot of guys on this forum haven't played games since 1984 version of elite. The days of buying a boxed game, installing it, and playing it to the end are over.
Those who bought the boxed set paid for a pretty box with a few extras. Not the right to absolutely ad free, in game purchase free content for the rest of the games existence. Modern day games are persistent and constantly evolving. FD has to pay hordes of coders and designers, not to mention to pay for leasing the 24/7 hardware for the game. Everyone else has adopted some form of in-game purchase-- no one here wants that (although I think it's shortsighted for FD to ignore this revenue stream), yet you still demand cutting edge development and deny FD add revenue?

Grow up people. single box sets/polo shirts/expansion packs are not going to sustain these games. Get over the fact that you paid $50 (or whatever) for just a pretty box and a cool polo shirt -- fwiw, I think you got your money's worth. But don't expect FD not to seek out other revenue steams. I like this game, and applaud anything creative they do to seek out new forms of revenue.

Not to mention - I can only speak for myself here, but if the company in charge avoids milking out the game and the world they created, then maybe people who like that game and that world, and would like it to stay, would be more prone to pay more money for extra things, since the company actually avoids milking it all.

Really, FD could literally make a post here on the forum and ask for money. I would give them money.
First, people donated money to FD's kickstarter when ED was just a concept. Then, people bought into the unfinished game at elevated prices. Then, more people bought the actual released game at standard price. Then, there's the extras and accessories... and ship visual customization, which pretty much only is possible if you buy stuff, and then, in addition to that, many of the major features in the future are going to be paid-for expansions.
Do we really need ingame advertisements too?

Yea i asked earlier for a mod to correct that in the title but it was drowned out in all the other posts.

--update--

well look at that, it was corrected! :D

Sweet...I'd love to have a Titan SLI with my 970

There is a distinct possiblity that I am reading this wrong, but you won't be able to SLI the titan with the 970. SLI only works between the same model number, like if you were to have two 970's or two Titans of the same type. I'm kind of torn on this one though, I have a 980 and don't know if I'm impressed enough by the titan black to swap it out on my main computer. Then again I am a nerd, and probably would for bragging rights, ahh well best of luck everyone.

I was responding to your response to someone else, not to me or my short sighted view.

The kickstarter funding paid for the development of the release version. The sales after release and the company going public has funded what has developed since.

Despite your clear opinion of superiority over me and others I fully understand the need for any company to have a continued revenue, but perhaps they should go about it by developing content that people would be happy to pay for, and I’ll be happy to buy it, because I really like this game so far. I seriously doubt what they are getting from this is significant in their overall revenue stream anyway.

The competition doesn’t really bother me too much, it’s the fact that people seem to defend it as if ED will go out of business if they don’t bring in in-game advertising. First, that’s not true, and second if it was, then they would not be very well run.

What really bothers me is your elitist attitude to the OP.
