Anyone ever played a boring game?

You need to bear in mind that a lot of games originating in the East are designed to separate you from your money as quickly and efficiently as possible. All gameplay mechanics, such as they are, are created in support of that.
What about games designed to eat up your time?

I had a recent experience with Knack for the PS4.

It was a game I tried on the PS5 since it could function in 4K 60fps, something hilarious to get a launch game on PS4 to work flawlessly on PS5. I wanted to try it out due to the graphical leap and performance boost, and it was fun for a bit.... but then it kept going... and it kept going.... and it kept going... and really, it started to become a repeated game of fighting similar enemy archetypes with 3 punches and a dodge. And that was the most boring thing I ever experienced recently. The story was not even bad that it is good, it was just boring.

The most boring Game I remember was a Palaeontology Simulator (I love extinct Animals and Palaeontology). The Gameplay was so boring. For every Bone you needed to do the same Thing that lasts for a Eternity over and over again. Luckily it was only a Demo-Version. So glad I didn't pay for that. Don't remember the Name of the Game but I will post it here if I find it out.

Another Game (that I didn't play but saw on YouTube) is League of Angels. It doesn't even deserve to be called a Game. Instead of the Player playing the Game, the Game plays itself and the "Player" is just watching.
The most boring, most disappointing, most hyped game I remember was "Spore" made by Will Wrong. He made a phantastic creature editior and animations and obviously had absolutely no idea how to make a decent game around it.
I hope it's OK too answer such a old Post. I don't think Spore was that bad. As far as I know they needed to remove lots of Content for some Reason. The only Content that I remember why it was removed, was the aquatic Stage because they thought it was too hard to navigate. If you like the Concept of Spore, I would recommend to take a Look at Thrive. The Game isn't close to being finished but it seems like they try as hard as possible to create a Evolution Simulator that is way better and more realistic than Spore

er....no! My skills lie elsewhere! Wasnt the ET one where they buried the unsold ones in the desert or something?
Yes, that's the Game. There's even a Documentary about it

...and what a lame documentary. Ernest Cline particularly is very hard to watch.

The Rise and Fall of Atari is always interesting to hear about, tho. That infamous ET programmer made a really amateurish video series chatting with his former coworkers that's a real hoot, Once Upon Atari. Definitely worth watching and brings back the flavor and pot smoke of those days as they all spin tales of debauchery and blocky graphics. Also: no Ernest Cline.

I recall Sim Ant and Sim Earth being rather boring in a calming and enjoyable way. Maybe even the first Sim City, those changed as traffic became a force to be reckoned with. 🤣

A Simulation isnt a 'game'. What is the definition of boring? The majority of gamers would find Frontier games boring. The fun seems to be when you are doing things that you arnt supposed to do or not actually playing a game just building lego.

*I fully recognise the Frontier 'games' are technically amazing and a lot of effort is put into them but they take over your life and force you to grind esp Elite D. I have lots ideas to make the game more fun and accessible..

This war of mine.

Mind numbing and dead

I have tried to get into it on several occasions but just can't

You ninjad me, when I was going through the pages of this thread the same game popped to my mind.
This war of mine was incredibly boring, it gave me quite some good naps though, which are a nice treat at my age.
