Anyone had a tip off?

That's the one I had a while back (page 1) but, because I didn't go to chck it, maybe they had time to build a small base there before you went.
I mean, if those new asteroid bases can pop up overnight, a small fence should be easy... ;)

Hi there,

I'm not sure why nothing was there for you, but after checking with steve again, apparently this is what is known as a "High Value Target" settlement.

I'm told there should be a beacon somewhere within the settlement with a big green light on it that, when scanned, will give you a bonus like the other data caches do.

Thanks,
Dom

yeah, it looked indeed like that. even the green light was there.

I received the Nguna tip off, and as I'd never seen one before I decided to check it out.

Big mistake, lol. Warm reception? Yes... I made the mistake of landing too close to the settlement, and once I'd gone in to try and find the data-point things got a little hairy. I realised I didn't have a hope (probably shouldn't have blundered in at full speed shooting), and started to run away... I did make it back to the ship with about 10% hull left in my SRV. Unfortunately, by the time I was in the cockpit again the ship was also down to about 10% hull. I took off to the rebuy screen and a 6.5 million bill. :)

Clearly I need to work on my strategy (well... having a strategy at all would probably have helped!).

I've stopped doing them, since they are often bugged now. I've had them send me to bodies that don't exist in the system (such as sending me to Nguna 1b when the system isn't even Nguna -- that's just an example of what can happen).

If the 'high value installation' isn't a bug, then it may as well be. The perimeter is huge, and there's no way to get in there without being destroyed. You'd have to cross a lot of territory under fire.

I used to enjoy these missions, but not any more. They are too bugged, and too iffy to take the time. Plus they used to pay more, now they hardly pay anything.

I just checked out the crashed ship on Athena A 2 after getting the tip off. I picked up the cargo (biowaste, non-lethal weapons, some other things that rolled down into the crater) and scanned the data core, but I didn't get a follow-up message, just a 30kcr data package. Sold the cargo and data at the orbiting outpost and went back down to the now-persistent crashed ship POI, the cargo respawned (and rolled away into the crater again) but I couldn't scan the data core again, "Already accessed".

This is very disappointing, and putting me off from bothering with any other tip offs. I'm not one of those credits-per-hour players, I just want to have fun and enjoy the lore, but I didn't even get that, and the payout wasn't hardly worth the trip.

Every time you do a donation mission, you have a chance to get a tip off as reward. As they always send the encryption key along with the message, its no use for other players
to go to the same location. Also, if you delete the message, you wont have access to the data anymore.

I still had the tip off message both times.
