Patch Notes Update April Update - Patch Notes

The Restock All Server Error: Returning to Jameson today after leaving my mining ship somewhere yesterday, I restocked without the error, but after restock there were still 10 CR left. Restocking a second time gave the Server Error. I can live with that, as it seems my seismic charges are fine. It's like the light bulb in your dashboard that is broken. Slightly annoying, but not worth the trouble of fixing ;)

It's been a while since I've submitted bugs, but it looks like reports need to be posted here: https://issues.frontierstore.net

Unfortunately I can't actually post a report there as it gives the message: "Unfortunately you are not able to submit an issue at this time. You can still browse existing issues or, alternatively, try again at a later date. "

Can anyone else submit bug reports ok? I've never done it through this other website, so perhaps it is something I'm doing incorrectly, but it would be good to confirm that it isn't the site that is not functioning first.

I'm in the fly/don't fly decision trap. I've spent the last 80k LY stuffing my data files, pockets, socks, and even the microwave with discovery data. I'm now a mere 40 jumps from turn in but not sure if I should proceed into the new near Sag A gas station or wait. Yesterday I could pull up the issue tracker to get some info on what others are experiencing since the update but this morning it won't even tell me there are issues. It gives me a screen to select the game to see the issues but gives me no way to actually enter what game I'm interested in.

So it is Limbo. The Galloping Ghost and I are picking our noses around a worthless 'K' star wondering if it would be better to just turn left and eat the 26k LY back to Shinrarta to give FD more time to work out the bugs. While I fly with a good reserve of power I know that others don't (for whatever reasons they have). Last thing I need at this point is to have my power priorities scrambled up if I get interdicted on the way to the barn.

I know, I know, be brave, suck it up, just hit the gas and all that rot, but the idea of losing thousands of scans/maps/data because some DIP switch moves from 1 to 0 has gotten the better of me.

The "Issue Tracker" has probably been eliminated. Yesterday it was still working fine. FD probably deactivated the tracker because too many bug's were reported.

I'm sorry but I'm really disappointed with the way that Exploration has been treated since the release of 3.3

It promised so much, and the core of the changes are still really good and have the potential to be amazing, but the bugs that have been plaguing it since it was released (5 months ago!) have still not been fixed!

I am not going to talk about fixes that have changed text to make it correct, or adding new control bindings, but about bugs. In the patches since 3.3 there have been a total of 8 actual fixes to the Codex/Exploration, 5 of those fixes have not worked! Sometimes across multiple patches. We also have the joy of being told in the patch notes that they 'should' have been fixed (they never were in those cases).

Will made this post yesterday, about White Dwarf and Ammonia Worlds, which I had reported during the 3.3 beta and just after release. And now without warning they're removing the ability for us to discover these, no idea of when or if it will be fixed, and no guarantee that already existing records in the Codex can be saved! I have 77 reports recorded for White Dwarfs in the Codex and no desire to lose the months of work I put into getting them!

The week after 3.3 was released Will made this post and we are still waiting 18 weeks later for this to be added to the game.

I haven't even gotten started on the length of scan time for geological/biological sites, or missing planetary info in the FSS, or records not showing as being recorded in the Codex, or regions other than the one you're in showing 0. The fact that we don't even know if we can discover Raxxla, or any number of things that may or may not be hidden in the game because of how broken the mechanics are for finding NSP if they are close to planets. The list goes on.

For an update that was supposed to revitalise Exploration and give it it's first update since the game was released, it has been a huge disappointment. I have tried to keep optimistic, even through the lack of official responses from FD on the issues. But this has unfortunately just done it for me. It's bad enough it's sidelined, the bugs are not considered a priority (for 5 months), the fixes we get do not work, but to now turn around and say that we might lose loads of work and effort that we've put in despite all these issues...

Ok after some testing it seems if you turn the "FX quality" off even on Ultra setting this removes the CPU leak....... Now the game is playable but this must be addressed by Fdev like asap.

Apology accepted

You are forgiven.

I just tried that & it looks like good advice.

I loaded the game, my ship was parked in the hanger with an initial framerate of around 75-80 which quickly dropped to 50-55 after a few seconds. I made the change you suggested and my fps immediately went up into the 80-90 fps range, which is a little higher than the 75-80fps I would normally expect (before this update).

Exploration is the only gameplay I have left (that and griefing, thanks to my bug-induced madness). Are you telling me none of the exploration bugs have been fixed? There is zero point in me downloading this update if that is the case.

Really should be "never play during patch month". In fact, to the friends I used to try to get excited about Elite, I think my advice now would be, "Never play, period." (on PS4 at least)
Chatting with a Horizons owner that hasn't logged in for two years:

Me: "New patch, shiney trade fixes, come on, give it go..."
Them: "Nope, [redacted]!"

This was before I noticed the brand new bugs that didn't exist before...
And now I'm kinda glad they didn't log in and see them too. Awesome.

Edit: Was flying round Sol for hours, went to every planet and probe (Can't scan Voyager 1 or 2, eh what's the point doing the 0.2Ly cruise?) and I want the old return with SRV pip bug back instead of this power priorities disaster please! And then I dock, and see why people are complaining about frame rate...

Disappointed! Oh well, I probably needed a few days / weeks / months off anyway.

Now see what you did FDev, just saw a friend log in and jumped on them to not bother!

OK we tested GankDrag, now we know that it's crap. Please restore it back as it was before patch.
Absolutely insane how easy it was gank people yesterday in Deciat.
Im not skilled as HairyPotter, Dezpe, Riznler, yamato or other minions ;)
But look on the time and sec's to kill, that is absolutely insane

They had no chance to run away.
Frontier is that what you want? Demolition around well known places?
I hate to see evidence of a gankfest, but you have made a point !

I didn't say none, but none that I have tested so far have. I will be logging in tonight to test a few more things, to write up issues for them (if the issue tracker is back up) and then I won't be logging in again.
