I'm sorry but I'm really disappointed with the way that Exploration has been treated since the release of 3.3
It promised so much, and the core of the changes are still really good and have the potential to be amazing, but the bugs that have been plaguing it since it was released (5 months ago!) have still not been fixed!
I am not going to talk about fixes that have changed text to make it correct, or adding new control bindings, but about bugs. In the patches since 3.3 there have been a total of 8 actual fixes to the Codex/Exploration, 5 of those fixes have not worked! Sometimes across multiple patches. We also have the joy of being told in the patch notes that they 'should' have been fixed (they never were in those cases).
Will made
this post yesterday, about White Dwarf and Ammonia Worlds, which I had reported during the 3.3 beta and just after release. And now without warning they're removing the ability for us to discover these, no idea of when or if it will be fixed, and no guarantee that already existing records in the Codex can be saved! I have 77 reports recorded for White Dwarfs in the Codex and no desire to lose the months of work I put into getting them!
The week after 3.3 was released Will made
this post and we are still waiting 18 weeks later for this to be added to the game.
I haven't even gotten started on the length of scan time for geological/biological sites, or missing planetary info in the FSS, or records not showing as being recorded in the Codex, or regions other than the one you're in showing 0. The fact that we don't even know if we can discover Raxxla, or any number of things that may or may not be hidden in the game because of how broken the mechanics are for finding NSP if they are close to planets. The list goes on.
For an update that was supposed to revitalise Exploration and give it it's first update since the game was released, it has been a huge disappointment. I have tried to keep optimistic, even through the lack of official responses from FD on the issues. But this has unfortunately just done it for me. It's bad enough it's sidelined, the bugs are not considered a priority (for 5 months), the fixes we get do not work, but to now turn around and say that we might lose loads of work and effort that we've put in despite all these issues...
