Patch Notes Update April Update - Patch Notes

Hello frontier this is a review of your update and I hope some constructive comments.

First of all the advanced autopilot is for once an excellent addition particularly on my largest ships it makes leaving the stations a lot safer particularly as it's difficult to see 360° around the port. Also the additional extra slot makes a great deal of sense.

The flight assist facility i.e. supercruise assist is of little use if you have not got a button on your joystick or controller to enable it and disable it. Having to go into the menu and select that option seems a bit of a pain.

Other players have commented on the FPS drop both in stations and conflict zones I have not seen a significant drop although I do peg my system to 60fps.

I hope these comments are useful and permit additional mods to be added.
I for one still look forward to space legs.
 
Initially really bad FPS inside starports, but otherwise it's mostly nice. Advanced Docker! Slow, but does the job. Only question is how it can be advanced if it consumes even more power than the old one? Ridiculous! Nice: the Cobra III seems to have gotten 2 additional slots even though IIRC it's a medium ship. Restock seems to have a bug, you'll instantly notice it. Worse: check your fire group mappings, in particular the scanners. Composition scanner seems to have switched mappings with Discovery, and some fire groups look weird now too. But well, launch day :)

The Cobra MK3 is a small ship.
 
I'm used to play in 60fps stable, now I'm getting 32fps in CZ after the patch on a 1080ti... Nice :| no matter fx off, after 5mins fps drops no matter what.
 
Yikes. That Drag change...

Drag was already pretty good. You hit your target with Drag and they need to use boost to maintain any real semblance of maneuverability; otherwise they're locked at an effective 0 pips. Now they can't boost either? In a fight now, if one pilot has Drag Munitions and the other pilot doesn't, the guy with Drag just got a tremendous maneuvering advantage.

It's not like it's hard to land a Packhound shot, or even a regular seeker, or the slightest graze from a fragment cannon. ECM/Point Defense are not going to stop Packhounds; Packhounds are MEANT to dodge point defense and do so pretty effectively, in addition to being able to put 12 missiles out at a time. PD might shoot down a couple if you're lucky, but the effect is still going to apply to you. ECM can reduce the number of missiles hitting you but it won't stop them all; the cooldown time between ECM "shots" is too long and some missiles will land if the user staggers the launches a bit.

Fragment cannons are even harder to stop. You can fly evasively and maintain your distance, particularly if you can boost, but if the other pilot's anywhere near the same skill as you, you won't avoid every single pellet from every single shot. Sooner or later you'll be clipped, and pain-spiral begins as ONE combatant can use boost and their engine's full potential and the other can't. If BOTH combatants have drag-frags then it's going to descend to a 4-0-2 slugging match where nobody can boost or effectively maneuver.

There's a lot of other stuff in this patch. Much of it's good. But it's all overshadowed by this one massive change from left field. Who came up with it? What problem is it suppose to address? Was it ever tested, and if so; how and by who? This change is like a pebble in the middle of your jellybeans; the rest is nice but this little thing is going to break your teeth.
 
While you're OT and in the middle of a PVP, can someone plz explain to me (just in a few words), why reverski is frowned upon?

WHAT IT IS:
It's a combat style where you use a fast ship with long-range weapons. Fly backwards and shoot your opponent from out of their range; they have to boost and boost and boost to keep up with you. Some ships will never stay in effective range. If you do get close to catching up, they boost again and zip past you; then flip around and start whittling you down again. Weapons of choice are usually long-range fixed lasers, possibly with Phasing.

WHY IT'S FROWNED ON:
It's really boring to fight against. It's not unbeatable, but it's usually better to just save everyone's time and leave. No reverski build has the damage per second to kill anything with any shields/armor before it can wake, so dying to one is 100% a matter of "pilot wouldn't leave an obviously losing battle".
 
I think you're supposed to target the object in the system and move the throttle into the blue zone.

By the way, where did you get yours? I searched all stations in Ceos and Sothis but couldn't find it.

Brunel sells docking computers and should sell the new stuff too. It was moved to a new section named "Flight Assist" or something, took me some time to find it.

Just to add my voice to the FPS hit in VR. Running a 1080 on mostly medium -high settings (shadows on Ultra) used to get 45 fps or thereabouts with ASW off in ports, now getting 23. Sumfink ain't right and I ain't changed niffink.

This might be something REAL simple I'm missing.... with the new update there seems to be NO WAY on the Main Screen of selecting a GAME MODE to play in... No Open, Solo, Private Group.... All I've got is 'Continue' which dumps me straight into OPEN. All I have listed on the main screen is 'CONTINUE', Social, Options and Exit... that's it.. something missing here?. PLEASE can anyone help as I want to play asap.

UPDATE: Thanks for commanders who responded. The game install was corrupted... NOW fixed and 'working'... Oh but the FPS..... what the hell??????????
I can't believe the FPS hit my top of line i7-9700K/RTX 2080 Ti PC rig is now suffering...I was getting 105 FPS stable, now getting violent swings 35-88 FPS with no graphical gain whatsoever! Oh boy... these bug releases get worse and worse.

Performance drop for me, no reason for it... used to get 144+fps everywhere with some dips in a res...

Playing in solo, something's not right. 80-100 fps in stations, always used to get 144+

1440p, maxed out settings.

Something is chugging the frametimes.

Strange. When you click Continue, you are supposed to be brought to a screen showing you game modes.

After Continue I get to a Screen with 5 options: Open, Private Group (maybe different formulated), Solo and another 2
 
This update - big fail, very bad testing and total disrespect for the community from Fdev.
FPS Drop without graphic changes
Modules energy prioritetes resets to 1 after change ship or relog
Drag Munitions disable boost kd very low 8-10 sec
