Are people enjoying this?

the ones i see always have a point. ironically yours does not. the taking a break ones seem to be "nerf or dont nerf and make your minds up. we will be back when things have settled after a big patch". there are very few actual whiny no point posts. That IS constructive criticism, it just doesnt appease the hardcore forum diehards. there is a cadre of people on forums who will always follow a certain kind of post and batter it down.

look at the suggestions forum for a trend in responses and the ACTUAL responses from certain forumites.

It is hardly surprising that things are coming to a head when huge nerfs take effect, especially many in a short time, people get annoyed, people get annoyed AT people getting annoyed.

basically fdev need to get their house in order and start PLAYING the game before releasing content. then they will realise the grind is just stupid. thus when they nerf hard people will be annoyed.

The sort of discussions ignited by nerfs and changes to the game would be much more palatable if sarcasm and indignation weren't the default emotions displayed by everyone involved in them. Some legitimate concerns are being expressed, it's just the tone that's taken is extremely abrasive.

It's not an Elite community failing though, this is the gaming community in general. I feel like so much more could be accomplished if gamers discussed things in a bit more adult manner.

In a way this is my point. It's the childish remarks that clutter the threads which will bring nothing of use to a dev reading it.

Well, my comment was born from the fact that when I'm looking over New Posts, I very rarely go past the second page when I'm trying to "get caught up" because that's usually all I have time for. I'd very nearly missed the thread about the new Eagle Eye Stations around the Pleiades. I still caught it, but only because it was the very last thing on the list. It's the very sort of thing I'm looking for most in the forums, and I'd have been annoyed having missed it. In any case, there was a Galnet article later about it, which made the potential situation irrelevant, but that's beside the point. The good stuff on the forum gets buried by the crap, unless it really catches peoples' attention and gets a good discussion going.

I totally hear ya!

What the forum really needs badly is some kind of thread filter or a flat out Keyword Based Ignore List. Or... If you add the persistent perpetrators of these kinds of threads to your existing Ignore List, it not only blocks you seeing anything that person posts, but also removes any thread that person posts to the forums as well.

Either one would be a good solution to remove the constant booting of the stuff we actually want to read off the front pages. And since I would be surprised if 99% of the forum membership didn't take full advantage of that kind of feature, soon the Drama Queens would go away once they realized that they were never going to get any replies to their Drama Queen threads anymore. :D

My point is that these threads are turning into a swamp of non-sensical troll comments and people should be a touch ashamed. If you have credible feedback, positive or negative, then get involved but otherwise leave it to devs.

I totally agree.

It's lame and pathetic.

Well said.

Im only miserable cos Im poor atm and sorta need to make some decent coin to recover some heavy spending sprees...I despise changing plans within the game and I was half counting on some decent rainbow pots of gold gamewavium exploits I couldnt care less what ye wanna call them.

Im gonna have to sell ships if I want the ship Ive been rank grinding for...thats counting at least 3 rebuys, Im not a moron or a noob. Ive been here two years, Ive been to the edges where the stars thin out and every single jump is jumponium assisted. Ive lived in the core in a type 9 that wasnt engineered, and made it back to sell the data to leave my mark on those places nobody else might ever see...but its there now nonetheless on some the rarest finds in the milky way.

Point being Ive played this game on hardcore mode, 7, 8 hour sessions a day, 7 days a week...I dont need to be told theres a right or wrong way to play this game. After 2 years, I could sell everything I have and still not reach a single billion, and yet Im elite in exploration...half a billion in scans alone so thats the hard way, not fast tracked with passenger missions.

So...now Ive established how Ive played fer the past two years, can someone please tell me why after all this time, why Im still scratching out missions fer coins and looking at selling ships to pay fer bigger ships? Where did it all go wrong?

I figured it out too late and I played this game within the rules, never exploited, never took shortcuts and paid my dues to the black...and then I arrive in the bubble ok...I need cash fer new shiny...oh look the forums are alive with whining over exploits and players not playing the right way...not in the spirit of the game...not as lord braben intended...bla de bla de bloody hell give it a rest will ye?

Result...frontier instead of perhaps taking a carving knife, took an industrial chainsaw to the cake and all hell breaks loose.

Oh and just a week or so before this happened, I went on a spending spree and just once...once in two years Id semi half a wee bit hoped to make some easy coin to solve an issue I fer some reason shouldnt have.

It has irked me somewhat...takes a fair bit to get under my skin but under my skin it has gotten...well done take a bow ye really have outdone yerselves this time. Oh Ill just adapt, do something else but that dont mean I gotta be happy about it and ye right about now...I need to change the scenery a bit...more fer my sake than anyone elses so dont take it personally ^

I'm not talking about the game. I'm talking about people's reactions to people's reactions of the game. There seems to be an influx suddenly of threads about "quitting ED", "how fake ED is", "be back in a few months".

Its probably to be expected. People have returned for 3.0 and perhaps ED still isn't what they want so the influx to me doesn't spell doom. That being said, the threads aren't the usual "I can't fly an Anaconda after 2 hours gameplay" nonsense. They are lists of genuine concerns of paying customers. You don't have to agree with them, you don't have to read their threads but if you're gonna comment "don't let the door hit you", then reading it would be a courtesy.

My point is that these threads are turning into a swamp of non-sensical troll comments and people should be a touch ashamed. If you have credible feedback, positive or negative, then get involved but otherwise leave it to devs.

I have my own likes and dislikes of 3.0 which I've covered on other threads. I'm sure I'll shortly receive the same treatment but I tried.

Your not the only one worried ----> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/413514-Worried?p=6498367#post6498367

But as I told him, don't sweat the small stuff ... we all get a little out of sorts and disgruntled ... and some good and valid points gets raised in some of the discussions. Of course we do have those that just can't wrap themselves around EDs concept and personally I believe this is there loss not ours.

The learning curve is very steep for a game but it is documented fairly well. At least in learning about the bare basics. They've added combat practice and the tutorials are also fairly good.

But the gold mine is the help from the commanders in the forums. So no, I see no reason for dispare or worry ... complainers will grip and quitters or those that threaten to will do what they have to do with nothing we can do for it. And it's on them, not us who choose to stay and enjoy & make something of this game for ourselves and perhaps those just starting.

To Infinity & Beyond ...

The 3.0 update offers great content.

I love almost all of the available activities and new game mechanics introduced.

The only two tings I dislike are the cargo compostions of mega ships - not worth it at all in my opinion to rob them - and the need to repeat the same guardian activation squence many times in order to get the necessary blue pringts/ the requirement of 42 epsion datas that drop randomly from obelisks.

Doing the exact same puzzle over and over again gets boring quickly. It shouldn't be this way.
Also, certain obelisk activation requirements shoud always drop a specific data pattern to get certain kinds of data patterns in a reasonable amount of time.
Scanning over and over and over again at the full mercy of rngsus is simply not fun and drives me away from unlocking technology quickly.

Gameplay shoud always be fun but repetition at guardian sites is just plain boring.
It kind of ruins that awsome content.

Post mortem equine abuse is the current forum meta.

Don't worry too much as the outrage wagon will move on in due course to rage about something else.

IMHO it's actually not too unusual. We've had similar things before.

- only minimal internal Alpha Testing is done
- a public Alpha is released under the label "Beta"
- due to time pressure and agile development forcing sub-par code from the pressure cooker, the actual Beta is released under the label of "Release" and still missing at least one or more critical changes as suggested by the Testers
- being a Vx.0 and containing many changes that never underwent automated testing, the usual Patch cycle begins
- the unnecessarily delayed critical changes come around to bite within a week and they're now officially acknowledged ("we're looking into it")
- after a whole bunch of Patches, the Beta now transforms into an actual Release Quality product
- before all Bugs are weeded out months later, the next major update is already under development
- rinse & repeat

Since we're still at V3.0.2, I'd say wait until we're at V3.0.5 or so... That's when things should slowly stabilize.

Also, all these threads are the same, the moment some difficulty comes up (a nerf, something behind a grind, etc..) the same people that quitted already the previous patch are quitting again, and this people that says is leaving now, they will leave again in 3.1 and 3.2 and..

At least they are consistent..
