CQC Are There Known Hacks in CQC That We Know Of?

I will disable all the same hacks you are running. Aka, none since I am not running any.

I don't know if I should be upset or flattered that you think I am cheating. Or if you are making a joke. But just to be clear, I don't cheat in any way shape or form, why would I?

For the record, I never suspected you... Sorry for the confusion - this forum platform forces combined posts and prohibits posting actual names... "N&S" Is a small part of the nick of another player. Pretty sure he knows who I am talking about.

Actually Dutchy, I don't think Kossack meant to be calling you a cheater, although at first I read it the same way until I looked more carefully.

I think Kossack was simply addressing you, then referring to "he" meaning the cheater we were talking about before. Just a simple ambiguous grammar error. :)

English is not my first language - sorry if sometimes it causes misunderstanding.

Gotcha, no offense taken, it just read like you were saying something you didn't and I wanted to be 100% sure no one thought that I was cheating. Thanks for clearing it up.

Hi Guys,

I see we've had a "Lost in translation" moment. :D

Not easy when we're an international community, glad to see it's all cleared up.

I can see why the problem arises when some players are just too damn good....

Swines. :D

I met "suicidal seafood" (not his real cmdr name) today. Thanks to the conversation here I was ready to take some video to submit to FDev. Definitely the first time that I have seen anything that I am willing to outright call out as cheating. So insane it made me lol.

Yep, sure pal. Except pretty much EVERYBODY sure that there is a BLATANT hacker in CQC. Well reported one (at least a dozen reports, a few with Video evidence) And he is still playing.

PS: As I said before, deleting my messages from this forum would not make the game better - Making sure your masters (Frontier) do something about the problem will...

PM me the suspected commander name. Thanks.

Curtis, could you send that video to Brett? He is interested in seeing it.

Yes, done. I really appreciate that Frontier is taking this seriously. I submitted a report last night, and had a moment of wondering if it even mattered. Good to see that it does.

I forwarded mine as well.

While I'm glad to see action being taken, I'm slightly concerned that it seems to be taking a PM to Frontier to get things done and that the in-game reporting doesn't seem to be leading anywhere on its own.

Actually, I believe Frontier has (had it for at least a year?) all the data it needs to take immediate automatic action against hackers after their first kill..
So I presume "Reporting Hackers" was primarily designed as a way for players to "vent steam" not to "communicate with Frontier" (Frontier indirectly acknowledged as much).

What is really surprising/concerning is that they decided not to implement automatic hacker ban/disconnect.

Admittedly, there would be an "arms race" with the hack developer(s) if Frontier goes for it.
But to my best knowledge "the developer(s)" is just one and a half guys (one with actual day job) - there is not much chance of Frontier loosing the arms race if they put even a little effort into it.

If costs of such effort looks prohibitive to Frontier:

I previously suggested to Frontier to publish their "tracking data" (after hiding user identity (so real user IDs are not available)) for us to analyze it and develop hacker detection algorithms. All it would take for Frontier is to stand up another ES server - probably $100/month of upkeep on EC2 (for a month of "full game" data, perhaps $10/month for just CQC) and a tiny bit of dev time to "sanitize the data" going into it. Community would take over and figure out for certain who is hacking and who is not..

And btw hacking plagues the main game much more than CQC. It is just extra annoying in CQC (you kind of locked in a box with the hacker..)

And to end once and for all the lame excuse of not being able to deal with hackers because of "P2P Architecture":

It is not a big secret that there are hundreds (if not thousands) of P2P PvP games out there and hacking has been addressed in most games by selectively (some users all times or all users some times) running PvP battles on a central server(s) (often just running the same game engine in "headless" mode so not much additional code development needed).

There is absolutely no excuse for Frontier. Even if they did not know how to properly design P2P game when they started, by now they had plenty of time & money to fix this "design bug".

Yeah that was a cool video. I see our seafood friend is still active and cheating. I just ran into him a minute ago and still invulnerable and insta kill weapons. Maybe the video evidence was not convincing enough? I can't capture video myself but it seems to make no difference whatsoever since no action is taken against these losers.
