Are there many other women on here/playing Elite: Dangerous?

While most people relog to farm mats, personally I don't as I think it's game breaking..as long as you're not particularly in a hurry you can get what you want ok. But then this is Elite!! You should be kinda already used to a bit if grind to get stuff, it's more fun to just enjoy doing what you do along the way and collecting the stuff as you go.
I like engineering ships, currently have well over 100 engineered ships and none of that was done with relogging. Lemme tell you though, you are gonna LOVE your courier and many other ships once they're engineered.. oh boy!!

Sorry just re-read that you HAVE done engineering but not guardian stuff..soz! Tbh the guardian stuff is cool!! It's awesome story stuff and intrigue tied in with mat gathering 👌
Agreed on the iCourier being an amazing ship to fly, engineered even more so. Wish we could engineer our SLFs, would make them much more fun imo, as it feels kind of weird to get into your nimble SLF and be less manoeuvrable than one of your normal engineered ships.

Wrt Guardian stuff, I really struggle with story that's told entirely through text, I had the same issue in No Man's Sky. I'm a sucker for voice acting and putting a (moving) face to the person I'm talking to, guess I'm just spoiled by triple-A games. Really hoping New/Next Era changes that one 🤞

The Palin missions were for Goid Mats out of obsidian orbital in the Maya system (btw, these are still going but the mats can't be collected from the Goid crash sites any longer - you have to go to the unknown structure sites, and 4 mats only pays a couple of mil anyway. So nothing like the original Palin missions).

Iirc, Ram Tah originally offered the 100mil mission for decoding all of the glyphs.. Which was too much for me to bother with personally. But I'm sure some folk enjoyed it 🙂

Apparently there are new (to me) glyphs on some of those obelisks that require you to first kill a thargoid then bring it's body parts to combine with othr artefacts to unlock more data..

And no, no I have not done that either lol

At the start of lockdown I posted a pic of the ED splash screen and my T.Flight, ready to go... many of the guys from my previous life in IT all reminisced fondly of the original BBC B version that I grew up with.
One of my former tennis writers is almost inspired to get ED as a result of what I have been posting about it.

Friends have no issue with me being a female gamer - an ex-boyf actually saw me playing Christian Pinder's Elite: The New Kind, and then got me into playing Eve ... but thankfully that episode of madness came to an end (both the game and him!)

Back after about a five year gap...so nice to see I am not entirely alone!

Thanks Susie! I would describe myself as a competent amateur. I traded my way from a sidewinder to an Anaconda following a guide before the mining boom, taking a break in the middle to do the old "road to riches" in my Asp Explorer. I've currently got a fully engineered Anaconda and Courier but I'm looking to expand that and save for Fleet Carriers, after being away for a few years. I don't suppose there's any chance you're on Xbox?

Thanks, I'm familiar with Jane, she's really cool. That's useful information!
Marra was a good writer, well worth seeking out on INARA.

You won't find her here now, she changed her name to Karin Karenski and flies for the Empire.

Good read:https://inara.cz/cmdr/1355/

I don't think we should be singling people out based on gender or professed gender. Can we all just be cmdrs and have a laugh?? Maybe the cmdrs who identify as female don't want to be handed around in a list to others searching for women as well.. I dunno, it's all a bit silly, let's just have fun together and do space stuff!!

Idk you sure have been in rapid response defense mode so it certainly appears that way. One would suggest that the OP has a keyboard and the ability to acknowledge this or not at their own discretion. Perhaps it would be wise to allow that.
Which, as you should have noted, I have now that OP is back in the thread andthe thread has moved to a significantly more amicable place. Please do not adventure that by flame baiting.

Speaking of amicable, the iCourier is probably the only ship I would genuinely recommend buying a paintjob for in anything other than a sleep-deprivation-induced spending spree. The iridescent paintjobs look amazing.
Yeah the iCourier is the only one I'm itching to put a paintjob on, I want midnight black but that's not available currently. I'll have to take a look at iridescent sometime and save up ARX.

Unfortunately for the eyes of those gazing upon my ships, I have a firm commitment to never buy microtransactions ever again that I intend to stick to. Luckily there are free ARX so maybe by the time midnight black for the iCourier rolls around I'll have enough.

Depends what you mean by "watching other people" I guess... are you watching the game, or the person?

I only "watch the game" and like said only in the attempt to either learn something or assess the game before purchase. I never understood the appeal of watching other people play when I can play myself. As for "unobtanium" titles... unless they're on a hardware I don't have I don't believe they are really "unobtanium", it might just not be from... respectable places, so to speak. But then I have a huge backlog of games to play through instead of hunting for unicorns ;-)

I'm not that old.
I am sorry if I offended you, it wasn't my intention. I was jokingly referring to the streamer culture appearing to younger demographics than the majority of this forum and how I am too old to appreciate it :)
Really hoping New/Next Era changes that one

Hey, you misspeled Delayed Era™ ;-)))

You won't find her here now, she changed her name to Karin Karenski and flies for the Empire.
Heeey that's kinda doxing! Bad Kangaroo! Bad!
