Speak for yourself. Some of us rather have fun playing the game straight than grinding away at the latest "get rich quick" scheme. ;)

Well bloody said. Credits are not trivial for me either. I never have enough and I'm a terrible spender, my refusal to grind just compounds the problem. :(

Credits being a non issue, these 3 bullet points seem to make any and all perceived crime and punishment null and void.

None of that will effect Notoriety if that's your concern? Bravely destroy ten explorer CMDRs at the next alien site of interesting (in an Anarchy system wisely ignored by FDs effect C&P mechanics), there is no way to reduce that Notoriety, other than getting destroyed and facing a rebuy...

but, well, wen folks come whining at me because their windows chokes, i usually also have no clue either, besides being a proficient computer user. in other words, the details of how frontier plans to get out of the corner they backed themselves into aren't as relevant for me as the fact that they did in the first place. they can now wiggle all they want.

often in life it's not about knowing all the answers, but about making the right questions. good luck with your focused c&p thingy anyway ;)

How so? I was going off of Sleutelbos' satirical quote of the stereotypical excuse used to defend credit exploits by adding the stereotypical excuse for combat logging. Combat logging bypasses credit penalties entirely by saving that person from a death/rebuy in case you didn't know. Rebuy = spending credits = paying for crimes.

If you're uber rich (as most player killers are) you can shrug off your bounty and "hot" status without even blinking.
If you combat log (as most griefers do) you bypass the entire process designed to bring consequences to you entirely.

Credit based penalties are an insignificant deterrant to players with billions in the bank. Furthermore any kind of C&P consequences are completely null and void unless combat logging is either fixed (not likely to happen) or is heavily discouraged (very possible to do). Until FD work with these two facts foremost in their minds their attempts at C&P are as useless as applying a rainbow coloured bandaid to a gaping wound.

I'm not clear on how virulent hot modules really are, having them go full GPLv3 would be interesting. I'm also not 100% sold on tying any criminal repercussions to the ship, at least something should IMAO stick to the commander piloting it and make some interactions (details TBA/TBD) hard or impossible in "civilised" space.


The karma system takes care of that.
