Are we the baddies?

So if humanity in general are the bad guys does that mean that gankers in particular are, by extension, good guys?
Too binary, there are nuances and shadings even in humans for example we have humans who only eat meat and dairy so only affecting a part of the ecosystem to vegans whose exclusively plant based diet affects the whole thing as it threatens the base of the ecosystem.

So we're nicking their meta-allows. Colonising their planets in Pleiades. Are we the villains in this story?
What is it with the 'we'?

Why is it. Just because a few greedy land grabbing psychopaths, want to exterminate some nice friendly space cabbages. They feel the need to try and drag everyone else down to their own level, by using the 'we', word. Or it is 'them and us' thing and 'choose a side'. Meh!

I have a long and proud history, of not threatening, to harm our new Thargoid overlords. Not being human myself, I take every oppotunity, to make offerings to them. Be it slaves or escape pods; just to compensate, for all of the poor young defenceless Barnacles murdered, in the name of Meta Alloy greediness.

As you sow, so shall you reap.

It's very much a case of the Thargoids being a bit more like the British in the 18th and 19th centuries.
They gallivant around the galaxy plonking down flags on all the planets they "discover", then bug ger off back to focus on their home systems and colonies....
Oh that reminds me, our new PM had better take look to taking control in America again, our colonists there are beginning to think They rule the world.

I'll get me coat!

W#F man? Where did that come from?

no idea but this is priceless:

One, don't play the indignant wronged innocent card...
Two, I am a noob & of Jewish heritage with Polish ancestry so yes, I can see why I'm now on your KoS list.

imo that must be a joke but just has this very weird and grim sense of humor. if i get this right he is (very bizarrely) mocking zionism but then ... he might also be serious! :eek:o_O:ROFLMAO:

other than that, what phisto said. and yes, by our own standards we are the baddies but while the media keeps telling otherwise it's all ok. nothing to see here, just pixels!

It could be that these barnacles need millenia to ripen (to whatever they will become) so they just check every few thousand years. And humanity harvesting meta alloys disrupts that process.
But as they don't talk to humans (or Guardians) we have two choices:
1. Retreat from any system with a barnacle.
2. Keep going and shoot Thargoids.
Personally I find 2 more interesting.

We found the barnacles after the first thargoid war so they attacked us first. They attacked the guardians first unprovoked just because they were in the same area as the barnacles. The thargoids are millions of years old and they have the intelligence of at least human equivalent and maybee even more, so they have no excuse for being unable to decode our language and negotiate with us.

Every sentient species they encounter they attack and destroy without provocation. When first encountering the barnacles both humans and guardians did not know what they were. We all thought it was just a weird plant. The thargoids should have some kind of deterrent or marker or something to warn other species that belongs to them.

The only weakness the thargoids have is that they cant handle a protracted campaign because of how difficult it is to replenish their ships. The meta alloys are rare and they cant be grown in a short enough time so every ship we kill they cant replace but every ship they kill of us we can build 5 more to replace it.

In short no we arent the bad guys. The thargoids are aggressive and will kill all of us if they could. The only way we can survive is to cut off their supply lines and dwindle their numbers to the point the cost of continuing their campaign is too costly. But hey guess what? Maybee if that happens they may decide to open negotiations realizing they cant just bully every sentient species that pops up and it could help us unify ourselves also. Think about this also. Say some species does come up and is gloriously awesome in every way (assuming anyone even knows what that would look like) that species is just going to get beat down by the goids the second they go to look at the "little green plants".

They keep seeding systems, how far should we step back? Their only form of communication is violence. Appeasement doesn't work.

They Humans keep seeding systems building stations, how far should we step back? Their only form of communication is violence. Appeasement doesn't work.

Are we the baddies?
Yes we are.
The thargoids are simply farmers and have been farming the meta alloys for significantly more time than humans have been capable of space travel. They're just defending themselves and their crops.

It's all a diversion, someone / some group wants pilots to be out of the bubble and fighting "the enemy" while they're up to something.

RP hat on
Good and evil are not found in nature, only life and death. Good and evil are constructs of the human mind, as such we are free to assume the Thargoids do not comprehend and do not care to.

What I understand is that death is pouring through hyperspace, ready to extinguish the human race if given the chance. There are some among us that would aid this menace. Perhaps they are blind to the reality that once there are no hostile humans left, the Goids will likely take them out too.

We are all faced with a choice, we can fight to push back the tyrants and live; or we can run, succumb, and die. I will live and fight to the end

Killing is my business and business is...
Well, a bit quiet to be honest.
Expecting things to pick up Thursday though.

Do we have a choice?

I mean....frontier put aliens in and then to interact with them gave us guns designed specifically to shoot them with, armor to specifically resist their attacks, cargo racks to loot their specific goods, utilities to neutralize their specific defenses, and nothing to talk to them or interpret them or aid them other than I guess trying to find someone else in the same system in the same instance trying to kill em and then kill that guy first...like, what else were we going to do other than shoot them?

We’re not the bad guys, we’re the pigeon-holed guys.

To this end, I would like to see the guardians make a come back from some unexplored area of space. It would make more sense to communicate with humanoids rather than damn dirty bugs
