Are You Going to Keep Your Ships?

You can keep it.

You could sell it but it would be pointless as it has no monetary value (apart from any internals you've upgraded from stock)

Question, Should I choose the option for a srv start, is it a loaner or can I sell it lator. I know the ship is a loaner, but what about the srv?

My ship progression was:

Start-winder
Cobra III
Type-6
Asp-X
Python
Anaconda
Corvette
I-Cutter
(Type-9)
(I-Clipper)
(Vulture)
(I-Courier)
(Eagle)
(I-Eagle)
(DBX)

The ships in parentheses were added along the way either to collect them or for a specific job. I just do not like to sell ships, they are money in the bank. o7

All the modules in the Sidey are loaned, means you can't sell them for cash.

On the other hand - get out of the starter system, participate in one CG (one tonne of cargo or one kill will do, and I sincerely hope that FD has lined up a couple of nice CGs for the PS4 start), and you'll usually get a guaranteed reward of 100 kCr. On a good CG that reaches its goal, usually 1 MCr basically just for showing up.

I thought they'd nerfed the bare minimum contribution for CGs, so you have to put in at least some effort to get a share?

You'll need to contribute at least one unit of whatever is required for the CG, that's all. For me, that's "showing up", since IIRC (been away some time now) you can sign up for a CG from any mission board in the Galaxy.

I just hope that the CGs scheduled to start at the 27th are attractive enough so that the PC (and XBone) crowd can do the heavy lifting (i.e. push them to tier 8) and well enough balanced to run at least over the weekend, which means anyone on the PS4 preorder list will have a chance of getting a nearly free 1 MCr. starter boost.

Since you won't have to deal with the overpowered "emergent content providers", you'll also get a chance to run some cooperative gameplay in open.

This would be a fantastic way to welcome us PS4 players, I really hope so too, would also be a great way to introduce us to the game in general.

As so for ships, I will definitly be keeping my Sidey, but I've no idea where to go from there. Depends on what I decide to do. I want to try a bit of everything first, so I may start with a good all rounder like the Cobra MK III before choosing to invest a lot of credits.

well I will go sidey->hauler->dolphin..
maybe a cobra but idk.. I want to explore with a sidewinder because I'm mental and because that thing is super cheap.

For those wanting a DBX, may I suggest heading to Wolf 406 when you have the credits to buy one? It's the home of the Wolf 406 Transport & Co., and the system where the DBX was first launched. They still have a 20% discount available.

Last I checked they still had the best discount available too. (will have to re-check this later once I get home from work)

Thanks that's good to know. I keep hopping too and fro between the little extra jump range on the DBX and the one extra internal option on the Asp X. (Yes, of course the Asp is a lot more, but it's only money =] )

I believe you can own a max of 250 ships in total, not sure what the per station limit is.

Well now I know I will not sell any ships! SAVING THEM ALL!

Don't know about the upper limit, but you can have max. 35 at each station. Or at least it says so on the left of the shipyard screen (mind the bottom line of dots below the image).

FWIW: Ship-wise, I bought nearly all of them over time (except Clipper, Cutter and Cobra MkIV), but only kept the best I could afford at a time, mostly to finance the next one. Sometimes, I bought the next ship too early, I would recommend waiting until being able to afford at least some upgrades which can easily double the price (just to note that LYR-controlled systems grant a flat 15% discount on ships and modules, this can easily save millions of credits). When I finally had enough money, I rebought the ones I missed. My current fleet (after 2000 hours of play) consists of the following:

Cobra Mk III (3x, one based in Colonia)
Viper MkIV (2x)
AspX (2x)
Dolphin
Vulture
Python
FdL
FAS
FGS
Beluga
Conda (1x trade, 1x exploration)
Corvette (2x)

The main reason why I have multiple ships of the same model is the fact I recently opened up a second homebase at Merope in anticipation of the Thargoids (a Vette doesn't like traveling 400+ ly @18ly jump range that much), but that is pure luxury. Most of the time, if it's not combat or bulk trade, I find myself in a Cobra MkIII or AspX again, these would be my definite keepers.

YMMV,
