Are You Going to Keep Your Ships?

Ships sell for 90% purchase price, so for cheaper ships it's not so impossible to return them if you don't like them.

Just make sure you strip the ship of all the modules you can, before you sell it, and only leave on it the worst e grade modules possible - even lower class ones if you can.

Selling modules on their own, gets you the full price you paid back, but any modules that are on the ship when you sell it will lose the same 10% the ship does when sold.

It all makes a difference early in the game if you plan on not hoarding :)

No, the selling price is 90% of YOUR purchase price. You cannot make profits buying and selling ships.

I maybe incorrect (generaly am) but using English, from what I've read, nowhere does it state "YOUR" purchase price. It just states "Purchase Price". So either I found a glitch or the powers that be are using a millenial dictionary.

I kept most, but not all, of my ships while working my way through the Elite universe. I still have my Cobra Mk III (Pirate start variant) from Beta. :)

Bill are you a lawyer? Your obsession with the pedantic minutae of descriptive English is concerning...and I think your question was answered - you don't get more than you paid for it...I assume (hopefully, wistfully, wishfully) Frontier aren't that shortsighted!

I think I will take this path:
Sidewinder
Viper MKIII
Cobra MKIII
Diamondback Explorer
Asp Exlorer
Python.
FDL
Anaconda.
But maybe at the time coming, I'll take a different path. One thing I know, I'll never serve the empire nor the federation. I'll be a lone wolf independent commander. The fear of all pirates, I'll name my ships 'the Exterminator 1, 2, 3 etc.' ;)

It's whatever price YOU paid for the ship. Why would it be someone else's purchase price?

You might get 15% discount in Li Yong Rui space when you buy the ship, and you get 5% bonus discount on top for being elite ranked. But when you sell it, it's still only 90% of whatever you paid that you'll get back.

Trust me, I've been playing this game for nearly two years ;)

So, I already have the ships I want planned out...
What is your planned ship progression?

sidewinder - for suicide runs i know will hurt
cobra mkIII - because nostalgia
DBX and AspX - exploration and long range CG's

after that not sure
Speaking of exploration you mention .....

Knowing that elite dangerous will come to ps4 I looked a bit around on the internet and on this site .
One part of this kind of game is what the exploration part would bring .
So my question is will there be a diversity in exploration like special artefact that you can collect sell or use , crashed ship you can recover and selling to base station , are there planets with live on or special plants to be used or to be sold .
Or will it be like in No Mans lie where there is nothing to be found or do .

I'm debating on whether going Imperial Eagle or Viper Mk. III on my way to the Vulture. I'll be focusing mostly on bounty hunting, at first.

My main ships I want to shoot for is pretty much any of the Types, and I really like the look of the Diamondback explorer.

I think I'll go
Sidewinder ->
Viper Mk III (early RES bounty hunting) ->
Cobra Mk III (early all rounder) ->
DBX or Asp X (exploration) ->
Python (mid/later game all rounder)

After the Python I'm not too sure.

From how my current commanders go, I'll probably keep most of the ships I buy, unless I need to finance something (I sold my a rated vulture when I got my python for instance). As for progression, my initial plan is Goldwinder -> Hauler -> Adder. Basically I'll be trying to make sure I have the Adder ready for the exploration trip that has been planned and set up elsewhere on the PS4 forum. After that I'll be all about the Imperial ships, with random others depending on whatever plan I have at the time :)

Yeah, I'll be keeping mine.

Current plan for the first 24 hours is Goldwinder -> Adder -> Cobra MkIII or Viper MKIV

I'll be in the Adder in a few hours after some RES fun, and will build up some cash and then take it on a ELW discovery trip

I'll be keeping most if not all of my ships.

The only one i sold on Xbox was my Adder and i regret that, such a good little ship and it helped me learn the fundamentals of piloting and combat

I would prefer a Romulan vessel, well actualy their cloaking device. Fdev, make it happen please. On a seriouse note, I'll keep my sidney, and no others until I can get a whale. At my age, moving cargo around is labor intensive, as is mining, passengers get on and off by them selves. WARNING, non of my vessels will be ADA compliant, so bring your own attendent.

was thinking of getting a dolphin, use it as tour bus/camper van ship

I'm unsure about what happens with the first ship we're gifted. Do we get to keep it, or does it disappear after we buy a new one?

You get to keep it. The main difference is, IIRC, that the ship and all original modules are marked as "On Loan", and so have no sell price.
