Traffic control was one of the best additions in 2.1 for me, and one that lasts.

You see, that, right there is pretty much a textbook illustration of the sort of level we're talking about here! Voices accompanying one into a station being the highlight of an update that took... how long, exactly?

2.0 Elite Dangerous: Epic Ship with moving thrusters Keelback patch!
2.1 Elite Dangerous: Traffic Control Epic Voiceover patch!
2.2 Elite Dangerous: Space Station Epic Service Vehicle Variety patch!
2.3 Elite Dangerous: Hair and Epic Beard patch!
2.4 Elite Dangerous: TBA

Did I miss anything?

I am more hyped about season 6 of The Walking Dead coming out on Blu-Ray this month than anything coming out for ED.

Make of that what you will...

Much admired. You're wrong about 2.4 tho.

2.4 Elite Dangerous: Epic fix of 'only 0m0s remaining to deliver your cargo - whoops, you timed out' - bug

Not hyped in the slightest. Looking at all the previous versions there's a good chance there'll be nothing worthwhile.

1.1 - Community goals (pretty good)
1.2 - Wings (Doesn't appear to work very well)
1.3 - Powerplay (A waste of time unless you want to be constantly interdicted)
1.4 - CPC (why? just why?)
2.0 - Horizons (Pretty damn good).
2.1 - Engineers (Awful. Badly thought out. Seems to have driven more players away from the game than anything else)

And from the sound of it coming up are passenger missions (where you haul people instead of units of cargo), multi crew (great if you can find some friends that are still playing the game), and thargoids (funny looking NPCs). The hit to miss ratio of the patches isn't too high so these will probably be pretty awful with a new set of bugs to contend with.

I'd be more hyped if the 2.2 patch was entitled "fixing all the silly bugs". Like the way the fuel scoop HUD heat percentage doesn't match up with the one in the cockpit. Or where you can get a bonus for completing a missions in the next 0m0s. Or when the special effects roulette wheel at the engineers lands on blue but you don't get any special effect.

I'm not excited because I think we all really know what's coming already.

Confirmation of new station interior's
More "thargoid" mystery
Ship launched fighters
Passenger missions
Character creator
And multi crew

So no, I think they will just confirm what we already know.

I hope I'm wrong tho

I want them to announce something that will blow NMS away.

lol this reminds me of that old stereotype...

"Where are you from?"
"I am from near Manchester"
"I know a guy from Manchester called Dave......... Do you know him?"

I went to Florida a few years back and one of the waitresses asked me where I was from, I said Yorkshire, England.

She said oh that's nice, do you know David Cameron?

Lolz

I've updated the list for you:

1.0 Elite Dangerous: Epic and gripping space simulator. (Off to a great start)
1.1 Elite Dangerous: Comunity Grind - Repeat the same epic task as much as possible simulator - By yourself, because all other commanders are more interested in ganking you.
1.2 Elite Dangerous: Wayward Comrades - Lose your wing members in epic parallel multiverse simulator.
1.3 Elite Dangerous: PowerPray - Pray that you don't get interdicted AGAIN while someone from another power forces your power to expand in an epically bad direction and go bankrupt simulator.
1.4 Elite Dangerous: Close Quarters Cunctation - Epic lobby magazine reading simulator.
1.5/2.0 Elite Dangerous: Keelback - (and Cmk4) Ships with epic flappy bits and sticky outy bits. One being so epically unpopular that some players didn't even complain they couldn't get one for free simulator.
2.1 Elite Dangerous: Traffic Control - Epic three letter code voice simulator!
2.2 Elite Dangerous: Station Service Vehicle - Epic added variety patch! They now come in blue AS WELL AS yellow simulator!
2.3 Elite Dangerous: Hair and Beard - Epic facial hair barber simulator!
2.4 Elite Dangerous: Mission Time! - Missions now give epic amounts of time rather that 0m0s to complete simulator!

i just spat my damm glass of coke out and down the wrong hole reading that!:D ...lol the cqc one......oh my sides;)

If you're going to pedantic call it a game then, NMS is a game, Elite Dangerous is a game do you get the idea now? jeez!

You wrote that the competition is that both NMS and ED are simulations. Now you're backing off saying both are games. So every game is competing with ED. Ok.

BTW, it's already a stretch to call ED a sim, although it certainly has aspects of a sim. Calling NMS a sim is a joke.

I am a bit hyped.

After seeing what 2.1 entailed outside of the "engineers"
-mission board rework
-outfitting rework
-USS rework
-AI ships on planet surface
-new AI
-new huge weapons
-Flight controll guys
-portrays for mission givers
-route planer
-bookmarkers

and more stuff...

I cant help but think that the "Guardians" 2.2 upgrade will entail more then just passengers and stuff we already know about.

FD has a record on underpromising...and over delivering.
Atleast on my book. We learned about that stuff when they started more openly to talk about their update...so i cant wait 2.2 will entail.

This post is due to be hauled across the coals... Another mans job, I'll get the popcorn... :)

This. Anything that makes exploration more interesting and dangerous. There's tons of ways to do that, and I hope atmo landings will bring it. :)

Well... volcanism does not require atmospheres.
FD already said they would add volcanism (including ice volcanism) before landing on atmospheres.

But I think you are right that atmospheric landing will make exploration much more interesting. I have not been doing dedicated exploration myself, even though I am ranked Pathfinder, because I first want there to be more interesting stuff to see out there.
I want to experience atmospheric landing, alien flora and fauna, but also ancient alien relics and artifacts and ruins on planets and in space.
I can't wait for that to be added.

Personally I feel FD could already add some mysterious ruins on non-atmosphere planets and moons or in space... some magnificent awe inspiring stuff. It can be added now. They do not have to add any fluff. These things could stay mysterious for ever.

One thing I will tell you, aside from 2.0 and its planetary landings, I always enjoyed the "secondary" additions in each update much more than the "title" feature.

I don't really have much anticipation for launching Condors and even less for multicrew (there's barely anything for a single player to do while flying). But I'm curious to see all the other stuff that comes along in the coming updates.

The trick to not letting moaners ruin your day, is simply not giving a fart about them :D

Same for me, the engineers was a intersting addition, but i avoided it until recently because of the problems of getting materials and the overall grind. I enjoyed the secondarys more because they had a bigger impact on my overall gameplay.

So if i assume that there will be a bunch of secondarys with 2.2 to the same extent or nearly as 2.1 then i will have no problem with 2.2
So far 2.1 had the biggest impact on ED from a patch point of view.So it wasnt suprising for me that they had to delay it a bit. Just to mentioned it, it was the first time for FD since 3 years atleast to call back a major update for months...and not just a week or so.

Why should i run? The stuff behind engineers was there isnt a lie or rose tinted at all. And ahd a much bigger impact on gameplay the engineers ever had. Bugs/Problems beside they will always be there. But people forget so easly that the update wasnt just the "Engineers"...

Tobe fair 2.1, beside enginers and some balance issue/bugs with the AI, or to say better, 1.6, was a damn good patch, certainly th most important update since elite's release

yeah i kinda am, based on their release of Season two last year at the same time It can only be logical to begin hyping the next Season at the same convention.

Trent Reznor waved the broom in the Studio of the great industrial band Skinny Puppy, before he noticed that electronic music could be his thing :p

Ah! Skinny Puppy. Completely off topic - but... 'Assimilate' has to be the greatest thing ever recorded by mankind, and wonderful to dance to. :)

Ditto. Because most of the main features were geared towards multiplayer, which I'm not really interested in. Planetary landings in Horizons 2.0, and the new mission board and AI in 2.1 are, so far, the standout things of the past year. So it's hard to get excited about fighters (without hiring AI wingmen) or multicrew (without NPC crew). Hopefully the passenger missions have to be something more than just - buy cabin -> ferry passenger to 'X' -> sight see for 'Y' minutes -> timer breaks -> mission fail.
