Are you interested in Crossplay?

At the risk of sounding dismissive, I don’t care. Really. I can find people when I want to and avoid them when I don’t.

If it would make some other players happy, then yay for crossplay. If it would divert FD resources from developing lore and narrative, then boo for crossplay.

Wow. Been a while since i felt so determinedly neutral.
what makes a man turn neutral? lust for gold? power?! or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?!

Crossplay? I beg your pardon?! I'll have you know I don't swing that wa... oh, that kind of crossplay. Okay, maybe!

The UI was a hot mess way before Xbox elite was released.

Well it was designed with consoles in mind from the start.

Exibit A: - Only primary and secondary fire - literally explained as being because they wanted it to work nicely on controllers by one of the lead game designers.

So, because console controllers, no direct button you can assign for missile or whatever.

Why?

If it's about controllers, then... we need to have only one controller allowed for current PC players, otherwise PC/PC "isn't fair"

also.

CROSSPLAY OR RIOT

Unless i can play KB/M on my XB - nope.
Unless i can have pip macros on my XB - nope
Unless i can have the full range of tools that would give the ability to program my Carrier to reach Colonia in 15h on XB, while i play something else on PC - No

Console/Console Crossplay would be really nice.
PC/Consoles not

What about all the PC players currently playing using an actual XBox controller?
Aren't they already in this terrible, terrible situation you outlined where things might not be exactly the same in all possible circumstances? (By the way, I played E: D on playstation with a HOTAS, it was pretty fun)

Shouldn't they be calling out to remove all other control systems to make it "fair"?

It's possible you are overly concerned about something that wouldn't matter anywhere near enough to negate how great it would be to have more players in the game.

Also, XBox controls, and playstation controls are different, why is that ok?

They have all the options at their disposal.
They are not limited the way consoles players are limited (controller or a single type of joystick)

And the controller choice is the really small part - the level of automation that is possible on PC but absolutely impossible on Consoles is the Big part

The consoles support KBM. The game does not. There's no reason Frontier couldn't implement KBM control support on the consoles. I'm all for giving people the option to do what they want. If you're one of those who - for whatever reason - would rather stick to playing with others from only one eco-system, or the other - then that's great, have a check box that lets you do that. Just like PG players do today. I'm not sure why you would want to deny others the freedom to play cross platform, though.

With enough electronics/engineering knowledge, you could rig up some electronics to control the controller inputs of a console via voice commands. The options are there- just not as accessible.

I'm really no following your argument in general though to be honest.

There is potential for "more difference" in control set ups?

It's ok as long as the -potential- is there (even if it's outside of your financial potential) for you to use the same controls as someone else- doesn't matter if you actually are though? that's still "fair" and doesn't "invalidate" PC play as it currently stands in the way that cross play between consoles and PC would...somehow?

I feel like if you are against console/PC crossplay for these reasons, you really need to be against PC/PC play, unless it's limited to the console controllers that are available...

I think the fairness across control schemes is a little overstated...though, to be fair, I don't do much PvP. I often switch between HOTAS and sticks depending on my mood.

I want cross-play if only to have more people to play with.

If it doesn't come at any cost to me, including opportunity the cost with regards to other more important features to add, I'm not opposed to it.

From today's Discovery Scanner :-

Question: Does Social Hub mean cross platform of some type?

Answer (and this is exactly how it was worded) : "No it does not. We have not discussed anything with cross platform. Obviously with Odyssey's release I will update you with that at the time"

Not sure what to make of this. It has a whiff of "not at launch".
