VR is niche ATM on PCs so there is a huge player base playing the PC version without it. So I cannot see anything like peripherals etc causing a major issue any more so than the players who play on laptops etc compared to desktop PCs.

As has been said before consoles are basically PCs now anyway so it's a mute point.

There's a huge difference between a twitch FPS and a game like Elite where the momentum of your ship makes more of a difference than how fast you can move a mouse vs a controller stick. I definitely would NOT want cross-play for Overwatch. Ironically it is debatable which side would have the advantage in such a game - K&M is easier for aiming a hitscan weapon like a sniper rifle, but on the other hand, console versions of games like this tend to include a slight aim assist, meaning you don't have to be exactly on target to score a hit..

But when it comes to Elite, I play on PC almost identically to how I played on PS4, and I don't feel like I'm at any disadvantage. Heck, my controller has LESS functionality on PC, yet I can still kick all your elephant butts.

No, I'm not interested in crossplay at all. I'd rather see FDev putting those resources and development time into actual game content, bug fixes and general improvements.

Those console players shall stay where they are ;)

To each his own :LOL: I don't have a dog in that particular fight, tbh, but that quick dig had to be ;) I've never been a console player myself, but in all due honesty, I couldn't care less what other people play their games on. My only argument is development time and resources :D

Exactly my point. As you mentioned before that pc players shouldn't be separated by control methods, vr and such. Why should any players be separated from each other due to their choise of hardware.
Crossplay is something that should be introduced to more games. And get rid of the ransom Sony and Microsoft hold on our internet access.

that's the price for cheater free environment.

and in crossplay im not bothered too much about the controls, but about:
  • the macros and in general about the automation level that is available on PC
  • the cheats

so crossplay between consoles, yes - by all means.
with PC? nope, not really and certainly not in a competitive environment.

What automation you think is being used in elite? Also why macros are nowadays such a scary word? Most macros I've seen in practice is the pirate players sending a "submit or I'll shoot" messages.
As for cheats, I've seen one or two on YouTube in last 5 years.
And cheating is also possible on consoles

When I'm playing on my PC Laptop with worse graphics than the Xbox release and the use of an Xbox One pad for controls anyway I'm having to either stick to Solo/PG or play with all of the people Xbox players would. So I can't say it's a problem for me. I'd like crossplay so that I can play with my friend who doesn't have a PC any more, please.
