ArmA 3 takes a sci-fi turn

So Arma is a military sim, and in a military sim you do military stuff, like shooting stuff up and other fun stuff! but now...

Arma 3 Contact begins with the discovery of an unknown object beneath the surface of the fictional Eastern European nation of Livonia, which precipitates the arrival of a massive alien ship above it. You, a drone operator for NATO, are sent on a recon mission to figure out who they are and what they want. But the situation is complicated by the pre-existing tensions in Eastern Europe, and the fact that there are a lot of high-strung humans with guns running around.

This still being Arma, there will be "infantry combat encounters," but "non-shooting gameplay" makes up a large portion of the campaign, developer Bohemia Interactive said. That includes things like studying alien anomalies and manipulating the electromagnetic spectrum with the "Spectrum Device," which can be used for intel gathering, signal jamming, and other means of electronic warfare.

I did not like this dlc....

It's simply a walking simulator with sci-fi theme and scripted events where you sneak between human enemies (there is not a single alien in the game) to accomplish objectives and of course the enemies have the AI (Artificial Incompetence) characteristic of BI, meaning they never detect you. Overpriced, imo.

Sad to report this is no where near as good as it sounds. The last proper DLC with many new original units and equipment and also one of the best maps was Apex.
Contact map is ok but nothing than you cant grab for free on workshop. Most equipment/vehicles for the new factions are just re textures of the old models. Also the campaign has no coop.
If the game had no modding I would be more forgiving but again - there are tons of better addon packs for free made by Arma community, alien content including.
Wait for heavy sale or just buy Apex - its worth it for the map alone :)
