So I guess that's the end of my community goal. I really don't like having to scan before shooting wanted's, in the heat of the moment, my poor braincells forget these details...

At that instant, the kill is worth more than the fine. Consequences, consequences, as long as I'm rich...

So, I'm resurrecting this thread as it appears it was not my fault for shooting an unscanned ship, but merely a figment of gameplay - now this is the third combat-oriented community goal I've had lo leave early because of this feature.

Shooting a wanted NPC, become wanted for assault, watch in amazement as he blows up and now I become wanted for 6 days. This might be a fluke once, but now it's happened to me three separate times during a CG at a HAZ. Buggrit.

Just smuggle yourself into the station (silent running and be fast). Redeem your bounties and then suicidewinder yourself on the cops outside the station.

Really, 2015 thread... Well ok.

In over a year you should really get to grips with not shooting friendlies :p

In seriousness try boosting in/out of stations, it's more than possible provided you check first for a T9 or Beluga coming the other way. Some good youtube videos too. Stay 8km+ out until you line up with the slot then boost boost away whilst requesting permission and keeping an eye out.

OR

Get engineered up with smart rounds and healing lasers to never have that problem, leave 1 weapon as normal so you can actually attack someone and bind it to a separate fire group so when firing normally you have no issues.

OR

Get allied with local factions before doing CG so they'll forgive you a minor hit or two (yes this does work, I have a vid somewhere if you want).
Also consider using weaker weapons like pulse lasers not beam lasers, multicannons not railguns etc.

OR

Learn to use directional thrusters to fly above/below your enemy so the police arn't in your line of fire.
And/or learn to use the radar and situational awareness (I find audio helps a lot tweaking certain sounds to louder)

OR

For gods sake don't kill them, watch out for getting fines and if you do evac the area promptly, wait the 8 minutes and then pay the fine and carry on. Whatever possesses you to finish the job for a weeklong bounty?

Plenty of options.

I've done a lot of hunting lately. Got myself over 50mil of Empire vouchers and probably 100mil of other vouchers that I haven't yet cashed in. 3-4 weeks of hunting and it hasn't happens to me yet. I'd say on average I hit a friendly maybe once every 100hrs of bounty hunting.

It's really a minor issue but still one that bugs the heck out of me. A wanted criminal is wanted regardless of my scan. Attacking a wanted criminal should never result in a bounty. Instead of being penalized for figuring out that the NPC going on about my "tasty cargo" is probably a wanted criminal out for my hide I should be allowed to use my common sense to engage in a preemptive strike.

Like I said though ... it's a minor issue. It doesn't take more than a few of these "mistakes" before you learn to live with the frustration and let the scan finish.

There is the odd wanted assault bug, but a simple suicidewinder manoeuvre will fix that.

It's incredibly easy to dock while wanted.

Heck, i had a 300,000cr bounty in Wuru from PowerPlay murderings, and I'd run out of ammo.
Being to lazy too Hyperspace to the next system, i just docked my Anaconda without even being noticed, at the port, rearmed, repaired, and carried on with my murdering spree. Lol

If you're in a HAZ RES, unless you get the cops showing up bug, you can just continue as normal.

Ready, fire, aim...?

Fire, aim, ready?

Anyhow, if you want "risk free" bounty hunting, head in to a RES with cargo.
The pirates will scan and open fire on you, meaning no need for you to scan them first.

Just don't complain when 11 pirates are shooting you at once. :p

It's my new go-to method for bounty farming.
It's fast, it's fun, and it's safe.
Unless security decide to try and dock with the business end of your turret.

I think a lot of commenters here either can't read or didn't bother, or maybe I can't make myself understood properly.

I DID NOT KILL AN INNOCENT. Get it?

The ship I killed was already scanned and wanted.
When I got the bounty gained message I was not shooting.
When I got the second bounty gained for murder message I was still NOT SHOOTING.

Anyway, if you want to suicide, it's up to you...

Yeah, a lot of people are just reading your original post I think. It's easily done.
I often read the OP, then put in my own comments, then go back and read the rest of the thread. Unless it's huge. Lol
