Attractions Wishlist Thread

I would really like to see some new building additions to make it into JWE. It would help make building parks interesting as the options to view these dinosaurs would grow. Here are some ideas of what I would love to see.

1. Gondola lifts
Having a gondola lift would be great to have a more relaxed birds eye view of our parks. It could allow for players to have a glass floor view and see the park from above, and would be another form of transportation similar to the monorail if we wish to have an alternative mode of transportation that would not rely on the large monorail pathing. Would be great for more natural/conservation parks.

2. 360° viewing towers
This tower would be similar to viewing option in the the hotel, it would be thinner than the building and allow for a bit more in viewing distance. Would work great for U shaped exhibits.

3. Underground viewing domes
This is an attraction similar to the one seen in JPOG, but it has great potential and a lot of fun to have in JWE. It would allow for a down to earth camera view of these dinosaurs in the exhibits. It would also add for some cool interactions to the dome like having the small carnivores notice them and try to nip at the guests looking at them through the dome's impenetrable glass.

4. Balloon tour
This is also another one from JPOG. It will be similar to the monorail, but would allow for a slow mode of viewing the dinosaurs without the need of having a constructed rail to follow. Likewise, this attraction could be heavily reliant on the game's weather system.

5. JP safari ride
If the potential 1993 would be a reality, this would be very likely to appear. I would like to make this different from the Jurassic Tour in which the vehicles rely on a railing system to function. This would lead to some cool moments when there is a power outage and the cars are stuck in the exhibit, similar to the moment in the first JP film.

5. Sauropod feeder platform
This could be seen a viewing option with a greater emphasis on dinosaur interaction. It will be similar to the regular platforms we have but would have 2 viewing options and a feeder next to those options. The platform would allow for guests to see tall sauropods like the brachiosaurus, dreadnoughtus, and mamenchisaurus, in the first viewing option up close as they eat from the feeder. The second option is for the less taller sauropods which could be found lower such as apatosaurus, diplodocus, and Camarasaurus, possibly even a therizinosaurus?

6. Tour triggered feeder
Though this is not an attraction in itself, it could be used in conjunction with tour vehicles. You could place this on the tour path and have the vehicle activate the feeder. This will make the tour vehicle pause and a goat tied to the feeder would come out. This would either attract a hungry carnivore or a no show, and after some time would pass without any feeding, the goat would go back in the feeder and the tour would resume course.

7. Various terrariums
Similar in vein to the zoo tycoon series and planet coaster, I could see various buildings be introduced to the game that fills out the fun need for guests. These terrariums could house in creatures that are otherwise technically difficult to implement into the game's creature system. These could be from dinosaurs that are too small, aerial creatures, aquatic creatures, prehistoric amphibians and reptiles, prehistoric insects, and visitor based greenhouses that house in prehistoric plants. This would allow for creatures that would otherwise clash with the dinosaur focused roster to have a potential position in the game. Likewise, it would add to the various fun buildings we would like to have in the game that does not rely on human forms of play like bowling and arcade.

Updates to existing tours
I think it would be great to have the Jurassic ride and the Gyrosphere ride paths to go through water. As water depth would not get too deep, let us have these paths pass by the watery areas. That would allow us to have tours in exhibits with lakes and rivers without having to have a dry section for the tour to pass by.

And could we have a system to allow guests paths to intersect with tour rides paths? I would like to make a connected tour that spans through the whole park, but would not like to have the guest path be limited by the tours path if that makes sense.

These are some attractions I would like to see in the game. I believe the gameplay side of things could benefit from new attractions as it would allow for more custom park layouts and new shapes and directions to park exhibits. 🦕🦖🔭

I agree, I really like 1, 2, 3, 5b, and the additional updates section. I think another fun attraction would be play pen viewing stations. With feeding troughs inside the viewing station where herbivores come to eat, and visitors may interact with them.

I always liked the balloon or anything that flies in general in tycoon games. It is basically a nostalgic attachment I have that when I have a hot air balloon or something similar with the game's logo on it flying in the air, its a sign that I have accomplished turning the empty land I had into a fully robust park. I believe since the origional zoo tycoon with the anniversary airplane I loved the concept.

Plus any attraction that is unstable is a guilty pleasure of mine in tycoon games. It's fun when things go wrong 😈

You know, I personally don’t see aerial or marine creature attractions being something you can build yourself at all on any of the game’s current maps.

Assuming they will become a thing at some point, which they could, I think they should be specific map exclusives where aviaries for pterosaurs or lagoon theaters like in Jurassic World, in which those attractions would be their own maps (especially when you consider on how they got enough saltwater for the mosasaurus, which was by having a channel connect from the lagoon to the sea in the film, and I’m sure a well-fleshed out game like this would want to follow the same thing), with their own set of structures, ways to manage the maps, and so fourth. In Claire’s Sanctuary, there are only a handful of structures available to you on Nublar North, so I don’t see something like that being expanded for other future maps.

When you look at the sizes of those places in the films, they’re all enormous in size. So, I think they should be map built-in structures that you can already utilize, kinda like the park entrances. I can only imagine what memory troubles the game would face when doing a “construction” sequence when you place such giant sized attraction entities, which is why I believe they would be best to be prebuilt map elements.

More variety of attractions are definitively needed, even if they are just too similar but with different sizes and skins... but I think there are some good suggestions here:

3. Underground viewing domes

It would also add for some cool interactions to the dome like having the small carnivores notice them and try to nip at the guests looking at them through the dome's impenetrable glass.

Those are the ones I like the most, particularly the Viewing Domes, as I always feel the need to draw guests nearer to dinosaurs but neither Gyrospheres nor specially the JTour seem appropiate when speaking of carnivores...

I also like many other suggestions but I'd like to make a side note and suggest new attractions that work both as an attraction AND something else, thus providing not only viewing areas but also satisfying certain needs in a similar way Hotels currently do: thus, for instance, the feeder system you propose could be a new feeder type attached to fences that would allow guests to enjoy dinosaurs closely or even, should it is an herbivore feeder, safely touch them.

Some other ideas:
  • Have that 360º viewing tower also provide restaurant services (being esentially a high-level restaurant in all sense of the word).
  • The Viewing Dome could also provide bar services.
  • The Gondola Lift and Jurassic Tour could also work as transport.
  • The feeder systems could provide fun services (instead of Arcades), with their level of success varying based on the amount of species/animals using them.
I've never understood the need for a balloon. I always thought it was seriously out of place in JPOG. In such unstable weather it just seems like a terrible idea to even attempt.

Neither do I. In fact, I'd rather have the Dino-Soar as Arcade-type attraction also providing dinosaur view.

Edit: I just disagree with this part,
(especially when you consider on how they got enough saltwater for the mosasaurus, which was by having a channel connect from the lagoon to the sea in the film, and I’m sure a well-fleshed out game like this would want to follow the same thing)

Also, I'd rather have pre-built, map-bound Aviary and Marine Paddock than having none, but I still think there is a chance for them to work anyway on most maps. That could also pose a choise for the player, to sacrifice huge chunks of space for something big and expensive with potentially higher rewards (and punishments) or not.

What sort of fish, arthropods, amphibians, and non-dino reptiles do you have in mind, Spark?

Nothing specific really, I want to leave that up to frontier. I recall back in the original zoo tycoon that there were buildings that housed ancient amphibians and pterosaurs. I want something similar but updated to suit JWE's game system, where the guests could achieve a fun rating and that we could house something aside from dinosaurs in our parks.

Here are a couple of concepts I've dreaming awake, linking to what I've said about attractions working as something else:

Glass-covered greenhouse-like paths: basically another type of paths, they are fenced by steel and glass on both sides and above, providing short routes within small paddock stretches.

They provide great dinosaur visibility and fun rating at security expense. Or they can work as thin passageways within small animal pens.

Astronomical observatory: this is something that maybe seems weird but given the importance of astronomical and climatic effects on extintions and particular on dinosaur extinction, I think it likely that such a museum-exhibit could exist on JW.

A dome-like building, with an openeable roof, it could work in a similar way to the science museum but also providing further weather advices, and 360° longdistance views depending on how high it is placed.

The tree trunk platform in Roberta's enclosure from World, attach one end to the fence and you can have multiple pieces extend into/through the exhibit with room underneath for the Gyrosphere, Truck, Jeeps, and dinosaurs up to Kentrosaurus' size to pass under, plus it could go over water.

The Safari Cruiser from JP93, have it follow the outside of the fences with the viewing area facing the side of the Cruiser the fence is on, doesn't block the gates so the Ranger teams can still go in and out of the enclosures.

The viewing dome from JPOG, place it inside an enclosure with an underground connection to an entrance placed outside the enclosure, can have up to four entrance connections, provides excellent visibility in a medium-sized radius.

That would be beyond ideal but maybe I'm afraid they won't allow it, for it would destroy their intended gameplay 🤔

The ideas in this thread are great, and could be wonderful additions which would fundamentally change the ways our parks are functional.

I'd love to see placeable Rollercoasters and other rides. Maybe even a river tour, similar to the one at Universal Orlando? Would add a fun and less intrusive tour type to our exhibits and enclosures.

Here's another one:

Bug House. An upgrade-like building for paths (that is, has two ends, and both need to be attached to paths) that turns certain stretches into greenhouse-like building you can fill with prehistoric insects. Provides fun and small transport ratings. Unlockeable by Entertainment Division's contract, provides money according to the Science Division's rep.

The fact that the cretaceous cruise was actually in the movie as opposed to just being concept art makes it a real possibility that it will make into the game. Would be really cool to kayak through different enclosures and see dinos from that perspective. Probably the only thing that JWE has going for it that PZ doesnt have, (other than dinosaurs) is that you have real vehicles to explore your parks (jeep, JT truck, gyro, ACU helicopter). Although I do want on rail options that PZ has (gondolas, trains, boat tour on rails) for JWE, adding in vehicles you can go out and explore the park for yourself really make up for all of the ty aspects of this game.

Here, have another idea:

Climbing Station/Area: either a 'natural' rocky hill turned into or a whole new building wall designed to provide fun for guests. Uses some big portion of space, but provides fun, big area of bird-eye view and (scaled-low to imply service for those reaching the top only) shopping or bar satisfaction. May be connected or work as Monorail station too (upgraded).

One idea that I'd had for a shopping thing that could be interesting.

Paleo Portraits: Gives shopping, each one has a number of slots that you can put photos you take from the rangers (or other locations), and the benefits of each of these is determined by the attached images with say 3-6 slots through upgrades and your photo scores effect the buildings value along with some other image options that could be added via contracts and achievements (Essentially basic ones that are things like JP/JW concept art that different divisions and total ratings might unlock for you). Unlocked images would be the global unlock but restricted to 1 use per park and the best could still be topped by the right pictures taken.

I have been thinking about it, I don't mind if the balloon tour does not get in. It does feel rather outdated. I am curious if we will have an Aerial Attraction where guests will be lifted to enjoy the dinosaurs from a birds eye view. The gondola could work and fill this role. I am curious if the possibility of a helicopter tour is possible as it will feel more modern, but what do you guys think?
