Autumn 2024 DLC Speculation

Ok so here's the reasoning behind my train of thought, assuming the Summer Pack is focused on Latin/Cental America/Rainforests and isn't the final DLC.

The in game biomes are as follows:
  • Aquatic
  • Desert
  • Grassland
  • Taiga
  • Temperate
  • Tropical
  • Tundra
Then we have the in game regions:
  • Africa
  • Antartica
  • Asia
  • Europe
  • North America
  • Oceania
  • South America
If we look at the packs we've had so far (excluding the 3 odd balls of Twilight, Conservation, & Barnyard and the Deluxe Upgrade) all are either region based or biome based, and we can associate an above region/biome with it:

Region Based DLC:
  • Africa Pack (Africa)
  • Arctic Pack (Antartica)
  • Australia Pack (Oceania)
  • Eurasia Animal Pack (Europe & Asia)
  • Europe Pack (Europe)
  • North America Animal Pack (North America)
  • Oceania Pack (Oceania)
  • South America Pack (South America)
  • Southeast Asia Animal Pack (Asia)
  • Hypothetical Latin/America/Rainforests Animal Pack in Summer 2024 (South America, North America)
Biome Based DLC:
  • Aquatic Pack (Aquatic)
  • Arid Animal Pack (Desert)
  • Grasslands Animal Pack (Grassland)
  • Tropical Pack (Tropical)
  • Wetlands Animal Pack (Aquatic)
So that leaves us with the biomes that haven't been used yet of Temperate, Taiga, & Tundra. Since this is the Autumn DLC Temperate would make the most sense here (imo) due to Autumn being typically associated with temperate forests (changing leave colors) especially with having just had the Eurasia pack which brought us several new Taiga animals and with the potential for a Winter 2024 pack that we receive either more cold weather animals or the final wrap up pack in time for the holidays.

So what could a Temperate Pack look like?
  • Mandarin Duck
  • Père David's Deer
  • Alligator Snapping Turtle
  • Mallard
  • Serval
  • Tanuki (Racoon Dog)
  • Nile Crocodile
  • Kakapo
  • Wild Turkey
  • Pallas Cat
  • Markhor
  • Eurasian Eagle-Owl
  • Guanaco
  • Aardwolf
  • Black Swan
  • Grey Fox
  • Burrowing Owl
  • Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo
  • Black Howler Monkey
  • Chilean Flamingo
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Greater Rhea
  • Honey Badger
  • Short-Beaked Echidna
  • North American Black Bear
  • Golden Pheasant
  • Elk (Wapiti)
  • Reeves's Muntjac
  • Southern Ground Hornbill
  • Wood Duck
  • Alpine Marmot

And if it's a Scenery Pack maybe some Native American pieces, log cabins, horizontal wood building set, etc.

/end this long wall of text phew lol
If we do indeed get an Autumn pack, a Temperate really does make sense but so does Taiga. There's some good picks for either, but most of the pack suggestions for Taiga have somewhat centered around the Pallas Cat, Spectacled Bear, Markhor and Gelada as the habitat animals. Which means of course that Frontier would include at most two of those.

Anniversary: Markhor?

I think the coming animal pack will be the final DLC for Planet Zoo 1, now we have 187 species so the final pack will likely offer 12 animals as a special farewell pack, plus one anniversary species so we will have 200 species at the end of support. Due to the financial hardship and shortage of staff, the Frontier doesn't have enough resources to work on new models, so the roster will contain mostly copy & paste species like what this Barnyard pack offers.

I agree about being the last pack with 12 animals. Disagree about being all no effort animals. I think the last pack would be delayed because animals will be highly requested ones and stuff like monkeys, tree ro, coati, secretary, pelican, etc take time to make right. And even if i don't like the barnyard pack things like the chicken and the textures on the alpaca and the sheep show that they did put work into them. Even so, a lot of metawishlist animals are clones in a way anyway. Just the spider monkey and secretary seem to be the most complex ones. The rest i can see being based on already existing animals in the roster.

JWE3 being a year away, it does look like the end of JWE2 pretty soon, that's fairly certain, sort of surprising it's gotten this close.

PZ on the other hand, the sequel is at soonest late 2026, so they can get away with more DLCs if it's profitable, which it might be, it might not (Player numbers on Steam do look a lot healthier than JWE2, but it is still a decline each year).
