Just came across this video which includes the birds in Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection (which Frontier also developed for XBox) and got really excited seeing flying Blue-Throated Macaw (11:08) which also interact with keepers (!!), flying Common Barn Owl (17:46), Gallagher Cockatoo (23:11), Gang Gang Cockatoo (at 23:58), Great Green Macaw (27:23), Grey Falcon (29:16), Hyacinth Macaw (35:04), Lesser Sooty Owl (42:09), Military Macaw (49:46), Palm Cockatoo (59:23), Penegrine Falcon (59:44), Scarlet Macaw (1:09:16), Sooty Owl (1:11:50), Suphur Crested Cockatoo (1:18:48).
It is limited focusing on species of owl, cockatoo, macaw and falcon, but cool none the less.
What strikes me is that this is evidence of Frontier animating smaller birds (albeit in looped animations) previously alongside what we can see with the flying animals in JWE2, so Frontier have 100% done what we are seeking before.
At this point, I’d be happy with looped animations for birds just to see them in game and what I’d give to see keepers and educators interacting with them like in the clip!
I appreciate the complexity but I think it would be a real loss to not get them and am crossing everything that one day we get these in game.
The other thing that struck me in the video was the animations for snakes - so wonderful to see these moving around more and a shame this is limited in Planet Zoo as they move in such a unique way.
