Autumn DLC Speculation

Yellow-tailed Woolly Monkey.
Unfortunately its extremaly rare and our beloved loud small part of community would go apeshit with its inclusion.
Looks adorable tho.
I'll take a dozen monkeys over another African antelope.

Primates may not really be my thing, beyond what we got in the game as of now, and a Howler Monkey, but I acknowledge their diversity and popularity. You can find them in 3 continents and many biomes and they can look incredibly different, beyond the very basic "monkey" characteristics.

I think the game for the most part is set with the African hoofstock it has 🤣 An eland or another large unique one mightbe cool, but monkeys, especially New World ones, are really lacking at this point.

I would rather say that a very small African Antelope is missing. I prefer the Dik Dik but also a Klipspringer or a smaller Duiker species could work. Bigger antelope species like the Eland or the Gerenuk are also unique enough and would be very welcome for me.

Oh, them definitely too! I just don't want any other mid-sized ones if they take the spot of another potential hoofstock. They would definitely be great additions to the game.

What do you think of spider monkeys?
I love spider monkeys as well it’s just woolly monkeys like the brown woolly monkey have come up a couple times in my searches and I fell in love with them. It’s interesting not many know about them. Spider monkeys and howlers though would be amazing for new world monkeys. Honestly any new world monkeys I’d love

Given my local zoo has an eland it’s probably the least superfluous of the bunch. Anything to recreate my local zoo roster isn’t a negative to me.

I love ungulates and could never get enough of them. Zoos irl are packed with them. It’s honestly disheartening all the hate they get compared to other groups. So many people wanted a leopard when it was literally just another big cat (not literally but that’s how people talk about ungulates) there’s so many unique ones. Gerenuk, takin, musk ox, musk deer, muntjac, kilpspringer, duikers, chevrotains, red river hogs, saiga, chiru, yak, serow, Rocky Mountain Goat, Père David’s deer, Sumatran rhino, black rhino, Somali Wild donkey, gaur, and the list keeps going.

I understand slots are limited and I want unique creature as well but it’s sad seeing every ungulate added being treated as “African ungulate #20005” when literally the savannahs we can make in PZ get boring after a while compared to irl zoo savannah habitats because we have to same options. Literally only two savannah antelopes have been added since launch (lechwe, scimitar oryx) and both are unique in the oryx being more of a North African desert animal and the lechwe being an aquatic wetland antelope. Meanwhile we had so many carnivorans and they don’t get the same amount of hate. I love my carnivorans too but ungulates don’t deserve this.

Shout out to my ungulate enjoyers in my ungulate talk thread. I feel like I always have to defend ungulates when this topic comes up

You have more savannah ungulates already than there are birds in the entire game 😂

Never seen them get hate
People complain that we don't need more ungulates (specially from Africa), which it isn't true. SanRazo listed a lot of them that we still "need". I would say Africa could still provide us with the dik dik, impala, blue wildebeest, gerenuk, greater kudu, eland, ankole watussi, black rhinoceros, addax, dromedary camel and red river hog. I would argue that after that you got covered pretty much the most well known and iconic ungulates from Africa.

The Americas still need AT LEAST the collared peccary. The big horn sheep, mountaing goat and several deer species are also possibilities, but i think the peccary is the one that we MUST get before support ends.

And as for Asia and the arctic takin, markhor, musk ox, red deer, blackbuck, muntjac are pretty much all we need 100%. But like i listed before there a lot of other popular options as well.

We are far from done with the ungulates.

The thing we need the most though are suidae and small ungulates.

I see more complaint about more "dogs" or "cats"

I totally think we should get more ungulates and I'm moderately happy with the ones we do get. However, I also understand that there is some resistance. After all, the ungulates we got in the last packs included:
  • Scimitar-Horned Oryx: Actually a popular species, but also one that strongly resembles a species already in the game.
  • Asian Wild Water Buffalo: Filling a niche that was still empty but not high on the wish list, especially in comparison to the gaur or banteng. Also practically non-existent in zoos.
  • Nile Lechwe: Another antelope, which in itself is fine. It's also a common species, but I can't help but feeling there'd be more interesting antelopes like the gerenuk, dik-dik etc.

Now I get that none of those could've been replaced by the alternatives, but still I can kinda see the unhappiness about some of the ungulates. After all we know we will not get all demanded species so it would be nice to get some of the more unique/demanded ones. At the same time, I think the inclusion of ungulates in general and the Przewalski wild horse, Alpine ibex, European fallow deer and moose in particular, were excellent!

I"m fine with ungulates in general. I'm more just of the opinion that more Antelopes , and specifically African Antelopes, are not really that necessary. And of course, that's just my opinion and I realize it's not a popular one. But bring on the goats/sheeps/pig/camels/deer

I'd be fine with just Blackbuck, Arabian oryx, and Addax. I don't need another savannah antelope. If we do get one, I hope for the giant Eland.

Every member of the community has its own preferences and that is totally understandable. As far as I'm concerned, we will always need more ungulates, including African antelopes. I still really want to get the addax, the giant eland and the blue wildebeest. I know we already have a wildebeest in the game but the blue wildebeest is such an iconic species... I love the black wildebeest but tbh, I think Frontier should have chosen the blue one for the base game.

I'm also very surprised by the lack of love for the Nilgai. These guys are so majestic. I really want them in the game but I think the chances are low, unfortunately...

Totally agree. I'm expecting an update announcement on the 26th of this month, DLC announcement on the 27th, and then release on October 4th.
Animal packs usually have an entire week between reveal and release, so we'd be looking at a DLC announcement in the week of the 19th if it's in line with SEA (18th of March reveal, 30th release), NA (23th of September reveal, 4th of October release) and Wetlands (29th of March reveal, 12th of April release).

Whatever the plan of release was, I doubt we'll be getting any announcements from Frontier before the 20th.

Yet another reason why a dedicated India pack would be so good ❤️

Nilgai, blackbuck... muntjac... Indian giant squirrel... lion-tailed macaque, grey langur... cobra... and one leftover slot for a sloth bear, civet, Indian crested porcupine, what have you. Yes please.
