I for one am glad that we, on the whole, have somewhat tempered our expectations from the constant "give us birds or give us death" sentiment that was inescapable in the past. Don't get me wrong, I'd still love aviaries, I've just never considered them particularly likely and have always thought that the insistence that they're totally, definitely coming in the next update for real this time has been detrimental to the community as a whole.
I'm assuming you mean no aviary system/flying birds? Cause a new bird species is on the card

Oh yes! I knew I was forgetting something.
Still....a DLC full of nothing but Caimans and a random exhibit animal!
Frontier is good though. There's been very few missteps along the way..which have now been mostly corrected, but they've been really good on their DLC for the most part. Sure we all wish the DLC could have more animals in it, but that would affect cost and production. Barring that and expecting we'll get no more than 8 animals, I think they'll absolutely make great choices.
There are only 4 remaining caiman species missing. But a scenery pack with a Lot of caiman stuff could workI'm so excited for what it could be:

. With a Black Caiman we would have all caiman genus present in the game. But honestely the only crocodilian which I would like to See ist the Nile crocodile if frontier decides to make another one (but it is very low on my priority list).

So many animals come to mind. It could literally be anything. Howlers, Tasmanian devil, baboon, raccoon, ect. I’ll be happy with anything really. Hopefully frontier continues to squeeze in the traditional surprise animal as well. Hopefully soon we have a much anticipated animal pack.

On September 22nd (that was a Wednesday) there was the announcement for the update 1.7 and on the 23rd (Thursday) there was the DLC announcement. So if they want to make it by October 4th, something should happen this week.
I don't think there will be any delays due to the Queen's funeral, the DLC and update are done and have probably been for a couple of weeks. The only thing missing is the advertising/announcement. So lets wait and see

If this new ,,ani,, depot is really responsible for animations and it was updated just 5 days ago then DLC itself isnt ready or was finished this weekend.
Of course I don't know 100%. But mostly games or other things are finished long before release, the last time until the release is mostly used to find and eliminate errors. That's the case with almost all companies, and it's the same with my work. The product is finished and I'm still holding it back for a while to look at it again before I sell it. That would be crazy if we were still working on it until shortly before release.
Companies work with various milestones that have to be processed by day X. Delays are avoided as far as possible (because they cost a lot of money!). Unfortunately, it has happened to us too, because a construction company couldn't cope with the substrate and didn't build it, although it was clear what was going to be built in the water area. As a result, we threw the company out and had to advertise for a new company. Ultimately we had a delay of 1.5 years. Just as an example.
