Autumn DLC Speculation

Taking the season I could imagine that forests could be the topic for autumn.

Forest animal pack:
Red River Hog
Howler Monkey
Kiwi
Wolverine
Ocelot
Lar Gibbon
Reeves Muntjac
Chameleon (exhibit)

Edit: I could also imagine a sloth if Frontier can make it work kind of realistic. If this is the case I would switch the Muntjac for the sloth.

And someone mentioned the Jaguarundi a few posts above. I like the Jaguarundi and it is even on my top 25 animal wishlist. But to be honest, an ocelot seems much more realistic as it is known much better by people and is also in upper middle Position of the meta wishlist.

I think it's kind of funny, in a weird sort of way, that after a half year of debating region vs. biomes, the Conservation pack was a complete curveball and shows that Frontier is not as limited in their pack selection as we once thought. I still tend to go back to the biome sets, except for Oceania, but I think I may try to come up with some really unexpected packs themewise.
The roof from australia theme is one of the most realistuc for shelter and storage buildings, so I use it constantly. Also, the conservation pack has the best theme so far IMO, better even than europe and the aquatic.

Everyone's opinion is correct for them, for sure. I love the backstage props but I'm kind of neutral on the themed building parts.

Now I do wonder about something for the next pack - Autumn would probably be a good season to release a petting zoo or farm animal type pack. What with the harvests and quite a few Fall related festivals and themes, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. If we did get something like that, I would hope we wouldn't just get a common type of cow, pig, etc - these groups of animals do have exotic species as well.

Autumn is perfect for releasing a Forest themed animal pack... i just hope they cheat a little and include RAINforest animal in the roster lol

It will probably be a mixed bag but i can imagine something like this (based partially on the META wishlist)

1. Tasmanian Devil
2. Wolverine
3. Red deer or red fox, but i guess probably deer since it would be to many carnivores in one pack. And i think you have to have a deer in a forest pack... although i prefer something else like the red river hog.
4. Golden pheasant (pleaaseeee)
5. Kiwi (wishful thinking). If not, replace with Red river hog or another monkey (golden snub nosed monkey maybe... another wishfull thinking lol)
6. Black howler monkey
7. Ocelot
8. Emerald boa? Chameleon?

Just for the hell of it, my preferred "Woodlands" specific animals pack would be:
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Common wombat
  • Indian or African crested porcupine
  • Ratel or wolverine
  • Lion-tailed macaque
  • Raccoon
  • Wild boar or Chacoan peccary
This my Woodlands specific pack, different from a "Forests" or "Tropical Rainforest" Animals pack just to be clear. Forests would be all types of forests. I'll make two more packs with each theme, since it's what everyone is talking about, that I think would be really solid packs (and also realistic).

Forest Animals Pack
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Common wombat
  • Red river hog
  • Howler monkey/spider monkey
  • White-handed gibbon
  • Ocelot
  • Curassow/Ocellated turkey/Victoria crowned pigeon/Capercallie/Kiwi
I actually think this is rather reasonable. The devil and the wombat could, honestly, probably use the same rig. The hog can use the babirusa pig. The howler or spider monkey would be new, but the gibbon would use the siamang rig and give us a third brachiating animal (I assume the orangutan will get to brachiate in the update). Ocelot will use the clouded leopard rig and the bird may or may not need a new rig.

Tropical Rainforest Animals Pack
  • Tree kangaroo
  • Red river hog
  • Howler monkey/spider monkey
  • Ocelot
  • White-handed gibbon
  • South American coati
  • Golden lion tamarin
Not a huge difference between the two but making it tropical rainforest specific means more of a focus on South America. Luckily a lot of SA animals are highly requested still, like the coati and tamarin.

A (temperate) forests or temperate woodlands theme is not complete without a red deer ❤️

Fun fact: in Dutch this animal is called Edelhert... "Noble deer". This either refers to the red deer being the most majestic wild animal, or to the fact that red deer were such prized animals that only people of nobility were allowed to hunt them.

It’s beautiful and I would gladly welcome Red deer in the game but not before Père David’s deer which is extinct in the wild.

Red deer is undeniably majestic but still has no conservation value so I would prefer Père David’s deer to be the first general deer choice.

Something like a Carnivores Pack instead regions and biomes again, it could cover a lot of animals from the community wishlist

1. Tasmanian Devil
2. Maned Wolf
3. Wolverine
4. Ocelot
5. Fossa
6. Walrus
7. Striped Hyena
8. King Cobra/Snapping Turtle

I really, really, really dont want a carnivore pack. I like all of the 7 animals individually, but not all at once. It would just be quite monotonous and make future packs less varied as well
I am your opinion. Broader packs have the advantage that more people are satisfied for the pack and I think that also from a marketing perspective we will not get a pack around a whole family of animals (Experten flying birds if this should happen).

And by the way the Tasmanian Devil does not belong to the Carnivora. Of course it eats meat but it belongs to the marsupial group. Perhaps this does not matter to some (or a lot of) people but I think Frontier would not make this mistake within a DLC.
Edit: I really like your Suggestion and I would welcome every of these species but it would be better in different packs in my opinion.

He said Carnivores tho, not Carnivora

Okay, than I have misread this 🙂. But to be honest this general carnivores DLC seems to me even less plausible than making a DlC around a defined group of animals. But for the Germans around here the DLC Name would be Kind of curious again like it was with the "Feuchtgebiete-DLC.("Fleischfresser-DLC).

Maybe off topic, but conservation pack is first dlc, which did not reach at least 10k players at peak first sunday after release. Players activity seems worse compared to past packs. Any thoughts?

Aside from the siamang, the other species seem more geared towards specifically this forum's wishes than the wishes of the community as a whole, and as highly requested as they were the backstage props aren't as universally wanted as many thought, so there probably isn't a lot in the Conservation Pack for everyone.

I think we really need a heavy hitting aviary or aquarium pack to get casual consumers back into the game. Rn they’re listening to us here on the forum and that’s great for us but the casual fan definitely wants something more game changing imo

I bought it because i buy all the DLCs (and will keep doing so) mostly because of the animals, but tbh the ones i really was interested about were the horse and siamang. I love amur leopards but i prefer to have an african one. What i'm saying is.... maybe this pack is not as exciting to both animal players and/or builders because even though a lot of the new pieces are useful and set is nice is not anything breathtaking or impresive like the europe pack was and the animal choices might not have been interesting for most people (i mean is just a horse, another antelope and yet another cat, the only unique one was the siamang). And i think the wetlands pack was very popular just because of the capybara and the otter (and maybe the platypus and the crane).
