Average Pay Per 10 Minutes / Hour

In my t-9, one round trip takes 11 minutes, 480 tons of cargo, nets me 1.3 million, a4 fuel scoop so fuel costs are minimal. Not going to say I make 7 million an hour because I don't turn and burn. I take my time, look at the views, chat with the one or two people I actually see online, makes it less of a grind. I really liked the type-7 and the python is just plain fun you can trade and return fire on interdicters. The type-9 makes big money in one run but its slow going and interdictions are basically take it in the aft shields and fire up the fsd. Anaconda for me was not as much fun as the python and I was always scraping the top of the slot coming into stations. Traded it back in for my t-9 but I think once I reach elite I will go back to either the python or the orca, the orca is fast and so smooth, really nice ship.

In my Anaconda, 1.1m per 10 mins.

Oh shush.... lol

Well i went exploring in the end and found a little more profit,

Am now doing 7 minute round trip runs and gaining 184000 per trip profit, I guess this is good for me for now and will just stick here until i have enough to upgrade to something with more storage.

The thing is what do i go for, more storage or start mixing it up a little with more storage but also fighting capabilities if i get bored...

Trading is super easy and might as well take advantage while it lasts. I'm getting 50k one way 12k the other per run. 3 minutes-ish back and forth. That's if I don't get interdicted in which I usually run so it adds another minutes sometimes. Take advantage because in 1.1 they made their first nerf. I know eventually it will get harder to earn that much

keep going until you get a type 9. Then trade for like 5-8 mil an hour. Keep that going until you have a billion then go enjoy the full game :)

I've made a grand total of 13,000,000cr since the start of Gamma, but I bet my fun per hour might be a bit more than everyone grinding trade routes. ;)

you may think that but, but well, from someone who grinded a billion to start with and now retired, i feel the time to grind payed off. The last few weeks of switching between any ship type and config i've felt like for pew pew has been utter bliss, not having any money worries on a death has also ended up in some epic battles, stuff that would seem silly if money was a worry and thats not to say i have been kamikazeeing, some fights i play serious but its just awesome for that freedom.

Ive been playing the community combat zone recently. I did the anaconda with the 13 mill plasma cannon, i did the python to compare post 1.1 to pre 1.1....then i did a sidewinder/eagle destroyer in a type 9 that only killed by ramming. I gotta admit the one that got most laughs recently was a federal dropship using nothing but mining lasers followed closely by the anaconda with all 8 weapons set as railguns.

I've had some pretty random messages in open because of there ;)

Pleased to announce, despite the fact I've left trading for the exploration of stars, my average was:

166660/hour.

That's 3 6s + an EXTRA 6!

Rock on.

Ooops. Run out of money. Better start a rant thread. No need! Have me some SPECIAL BREW in the cabin ;)

Currently I make about 555k per 11 minute run in a T7. However profit drops with each run (it started at 595k per run) and fuel costs went up today.
After coming back from a 4 week exploration tour in an Asp, I wanted something with a bit more range to take to the core. The only upgrade after an Asp for an explorer is an Anaconda :/ 4 weeks netted me just over 20 million with the 50% first discovery bonus. Enough to buy a T7, yet still a long way to an Anaconda. I wanted to buy a Clipper as in between point yet since I have never progressed in Naval rank that seems even further away? I tried the first naval progression mission, searched USS points for 2 hours never finding the guy. Killed 2 wanted ships, still ended up losing money.
I'm aiming for a T9 now. Maybe do some local exploring in between or a few rare trade pickups to break up the grind. The 11 minutes per run only work when I stay focussed. Forgetting docking permission, overshooting the station, coming in to fast and having to abort the landing or worse... It gets risky after a while. It's a shame all the other activities seem pointless for progression after you start making 2.5 to 3 million an hour with a trade route. In 7 hours I already beat my profits from 4 weeks of intense exploration (over 1400 systems visited and about 20 Nebulae) Sure exploration is more relaxing and has plenty great moments (lot of tedious in between time too tbh) but if I try to get a better ship through exploration, I'm sure I'll be sick of it long before then. This game needs more ships.

From that perspective, your next ship should the the ASP. Great allrounder and more firepower than the Cobra, so you can trade better than with a T6, but have the option of doing some combat oriented stuff as well.

I had the following ships:
Sidewinder (made 200K with missions and bounty hunting)
Viper (made 2M mostly bounty hunting)
T6 (made 10M trading) but kept Viper as backup ship
ASP (made 20M trading)
T7 (made 10M trading and 40M gold rushing)
Python (stopped grinding for money, did some exploration, hunting, and building REP with the factions)
Now I could buy a T9, but I'm not sure I want to go back to the trader game again.

I hear the Guides forum has some tips about trading and how to tell if you have a good trade route or look for better.

Normalize your numbers by dividing by your cargo tonnage. The best most people hope for is the magic number 16,000 credits per ton per hour. That approaches the best you can get from a stable station to station route, but if you use outposts then you might get better rates than even that.

I'm curious, generally speaking do you find that it is better to run a faster but less profitable route between two stations within one jump, or a more profitable route involving two jumps?

Use of trading tools such as Slopey's I find tends to kill off a route - I recall entering the data to identify the best combination between about six new stations, only to find that by the next day it had been swamped and the profitability had been eroded away.

However, I reckon you should skip the T7 and go straight to Clipper. A trade Clipper with 228/232 tonnes of space (depending on if you like docking computers - I do) will set you back approx 27m. A T7 with about 204 tonnes will cost you approx 21m.

Good idea, hadn't thought about that.

As to intra system trading vs. jumping around, I'm all for jumping around. Upgrade to a FSD that does 18+ Ly jumps when fully laden and you can find bidirectional trade routes with only a single jump. Important thing is that the stations are close to the sun. My current route is one jump with the stations 17 Ls and 140 Ls from their respective suns and profit running at 1000 Cr - 1300 Cr one way and 1400 - 1600 Cr the other way per tonne, or just over two million an hour.

In an Asp that comes out to about 250 - 300k per round trip, which lasts eight minutes. When I upgrade to the clipper, the profit will double to four mil an hour and from there to T9 at over eight mil an hour :D
