Awful TITAN DRIVE COMPONENT Drop rate, like the good old day's, Pre-Engineer drop rate Re-Vamp.

Found zero in Raijin's cloud early yesterday evening.
Found 1 TDC in Hadad's cloud late yesterday evening on the ring side within 45mins.
Found 2 TDC's in Cocijo's cloud this evening on the Earth side within 20mins.

Yeah not getting any where near the targets the target density shown in screeen shot a few posts ago.
Just watching Cmdr Mechans Final Update video where he mentions the drop rate in Titan graveyards is linked to the number of players present in the instance. Which would explain why I was inundated with materials. There were a lot of other Cmdrs with me in that instance AXI pg

At Oya, one drive in 90 minutes. After numerous relogs I finally quit to desktop feeling bored and frustrated.

I've done better on previous visits but I struggle to understand why FDEV think this tedious searching is in any way fun.
Re-logging I don't think will help you at all. The time it takes to search the whole area is more than the time new things are spawning in, so you'll just lose time in menus and travelling.
As far as fun goes, it's better that you are gathering stuff in general, or engaging with the Thargoids, and count any Drive Components you find as a bonus.

Yikes. Heading back to the bubble for just that reason.

Maybe I'll slow my roll.
There's zero chance of it being adjusted, so I wouldn't let it change your plans.
They've been in the game since Taranis exploded at the same rate, and unless you need dozens of new FSDs it's not going to be an issue. Some people find them after literally seconds in the zone, some people get unlucky and think the game is broken. I found 4 in about 90 minutes gameplay.

got them. The grindy time is beloved- I can get by-my questions answered in Discords; thanks all.

Can a caustic cargo item be stored in a ship in a station without the damage continuing?
Sold/deleted my caustic cargo containers after they were given out,for a CG, was that a year ago, to make space.
If you have landed on a pad, corrosive damage should cease while you're on the pad. But if you take off, and haven't equipped a corrosion-resistant cargo rack, the damage will resume. Note that if you have a fleet carrier, corrosive items can be stored there at zero risk for your carrier.

Addendum - while you can keep cargo in the ship that you're flying, you can't switch to another ship and leave the cargo in the previous ship, cargo always follows you to the current ship you're flying.

Just to expand a little on that:
  • You'll still get the damage tick occur while docked, but it won't do damage.
  • Thargoid items (not all caustic items e.g toxic waste) do the same amount of damage, which is (afaik) 1.5 integrity damage per hit, per item.
  • Items hit a single module, as a stack, so 20 items won't hit 20 different things for 1.5 damage each, all 20 will hit the one randomly selected thing for 30 damage.
  • Towards that end, 20 items or more is enough to one-shot your canopy (which has 30 integrity, apparently) which prevents you using an AFMU to repair it... that's the only thing that can be fatal when shipping these things.

There's a bit of a lost art to shipping things without CRCRs, not really relevant these days with so many CRCRs around of larger sizes... but the more you know.

Well...

Loosing your TDCs cause your cargo rack burned away is perhaps more fatal for your heart and soul...

I suggest bringing a lot of extra limpets to minimize the chances of your precious TDCs being ejected due to cargo hatch damage. When it breaks it will eject around 10 random pieces from your cargo hold

There's ways around it. I documented most of this when I took 10t of Thargoid stuff with no CRCR from the bubble to colonia. My record for a single "clean" haul was about 32t... not so hard if you start from an FC... harder when you're loading 1t at a time from NHSS.

Real quick summary is:
  • If your timing is right, you can jump repeatedly without ever taking a damage tick.
  • Biggest risk is when flying from jump-in to station, and when refueling at a star... anytime you have to endure a damage tick.
  • Hot-refuelling is a good trick, but replenishing your heatsinks without causing a damage tick is rough
  • if you suffer a cargo hatch failure mid-supercruise, emergency drop immediately, this stops mid-flight cargo loss from occurring.. you might lose one or two tonnes by the time you react, but you cease losing cargo as soon as the emergency drop commences.

There's a host of other things you can do to mitigate, but that's the short version.

I'm finding the drop rates in Cocoa Joe to be fairly low as well. Previous Titans I'd find 2-3 before the caustic sinks ran out on my bin sniffer Clipper, but now I'm getting one (fairly quickly, to be fair), but then no more.

I’ve been visiting Thor, as it’s close by, the last two days and have picked up three each time (one visit per day) in around an hour of circling the 10-17km zone using 4A long range scanners in my Orca. I’ve been doing it in Solo as I’d assumed I’d have more luck than with other Cmdrs present.

It’s hardly enthralling gameplay but for a rare item it seems ok. I remember the faff of trying to find HGEs several years ago before the FSS and it beats that.

So long as the Titan sites aren’t going anywhere anytime soon there’s no need to rush to swap all of my FSDs for the new ones.

I haven’t been back to Cocijo yet, maybe over the Christmas break.
