AX search and rescue ship dropping probes on planet?

Anyone know what the AX search and rescue ship is dropping on planets?

I was doing an AX restore power mission. While I was at the settlement, I noticed one of the AX search and rescue ship (NPC) was dropping something on the planet surface the entire time I was there. The ship would hover close to the ground (approx. 50m) and the something small dropped out making a sound as it fell and when it hit the ground there was a small explosion and then nothing. The ship would fly on and do it again.

Limpets, they're trying to repair your ship, but they can't latch on because the ground is in the way.

Maybe. My ship wasn't damaged at the time. Also they seemed to be dropping them all around not just on my ship.

Definitely, limpets are the only thing dropped by rescue ships. Suspect you'd taken very minor hull damage previously, they'll fire limpets even if you have less than 1% damage.

Ya, that sounds pretty nasty. Be glad they weren't throwing them at your ship. When truckers drop them its usually at a corner where they have slowed down. Thrown from a space ship, they likely just explode. Not very respectful.

Thargoids should fine them for littering!
