Azimuth Saga: Salvation Tech Broker Modules & Update 7 Engineered Modules Bug

i dont think it will be.
the thermal load withe the 4 shots of the birst will be basically the same as unmodded ones.

so these new ones are doing slighly less dmg
less effective range
the same thermal load
higher ammo count is pointless because its 4x higher but each shot shoots 4 shots so again that basically is the same as unmodded

-edit
just tested this as the modded one i have has the correct thermal load values and both the modded and unmodded gauss increases the ships thermal load the same amount.

the only positive i can see of this modded one is it gives you about 20 more shots worth of ammo over the unmodded one and thats it.
does not seem correct

@Bruce G , I thought I avoided this bug.

Boarded my FC and queued a jump to Thargoid space anxious to test it. I one shot a Hydra. I was too gobsmacked to get a screenshot. I tabbed to my module info and it's showing infinity for damage and DPS.

Since it's a known issue the ping is just an FYI that on relog it can glitch out and went from normal to totally broken.

Okay, I think the fact that it shows an infinity symbol is just straight up hilarious.

I dont know if its intentional or not, but the 2A Modified Guardian Shard Cannon that is available for unlock at Bright Sentinel is not quite the same as the one gained from Salvations Appeal for Guardian Artefacts CG, 3rd of July 3307 at Glorious Prospect. I would assume that they should be the same, and see no reason why they should be different, as both are from same manufacturer and from same saga.

Greetings Commanders,

The latest part of the Azimuth Saga sees Commanders who have aided Salvation granted access to a permit locked system where Salvation’s Tech Broker offers unique modules. This part of the story has been added today (don’t worry if you haven’t been invited to the system yet, if you would like to be, you’ll have opportunities in the future).

We’re aware of a bug from Update 7 that has unintentionally increased the effectiveness of engineered modules, including those from Salvation's Tech Broker. We would like to let you know that a fix for PC players is expected soon and we expect to have a fix for console next week. Therefore, the power of these modules (while still a significant alternative to current ones), will be returned to intended levels.

Pictured: the intended stats of the modified Guardian Gauss Cannon which will be effective when the fix is deployed.

See you in the black!

I’m not a fan of the damage numbers. For all the material spent to get 4 of them, having them do the same damage as the normal gauss is very underwhelming. Why spend all that material for what equates to lower thermals and 20 more shots per gauss? Even you had to add that it has a shorter optimal range. I really think you should tweak the damage numbers to give it the imperial hammer treatment. Where if you hit 2 gauss shots it is less damage than the normal gauss, 3 and it’s the same damage and 4 shots have it do more damage.

Even with the "intended stats" the modified Gauss Cannon seems to have a much lower thermal load (75% lower I believe). Heat was one of the biggest drawbacks of running max Gauss so even if the damage is the same it seems like a pretty decent alternative.
It generates nearly same heat as i saw, because each individual shot generates a smaller ammount ( 75% lower ) of it, and you fire 4 shots per volley, so its probably not as good in the end. Video where you can check heat generation

How does one engineer a Gauss Cannon? Which engineer can modify them? I figured that if any of them could, it would be Tod McQuinn, since he does rail guns, but no luck.

You can only buy it in a certain systems ( Mbooni ), but you have access to the system only if you've helped Salvation by delivering "medicine" by sep 20 ( i'm not entirely sure what was going on in that secret mission cause i missed it). If you didnt then wait till fdev allows everyone to buy them ( some time in the future )

Damage is spread out over multiple shots: a full miss could be a partial hit here. It depends on your aim how good that is, given the opposite also holds.

Lol, so for every additional one you need a new blueprint?
Yes its ridiculous, as its something they added to the game very recently but which is a re-log to get more exploitable system.
Very annoying when re-log to get more exploits were supposed to be being removed from the game, not more games loops using them added.
I think the re-log to get more should be removed from all aspects of the game. Though also things like Blueprints should be hand in once only to unlock all Items using the blueprint. Pointless grind needs to go.

Think about that, and the fact it doesn’t do more damage

I understand that plasmas and other infinite damage weapons will be made "normal" again.
But what about efficient engineering which is also broken?
Modules do same damage as unengineered ones. No release notes about that.
Thank you.

The overpower bug is fixed its a good thing.
But now the modified guardian gauss cannon that doesn't add any damage and shortens the effective range.
It's a complete waste of my time for all that materials.
At least the Imperial Hammer increased the damage, and the range was not affected
What's the meaning of this weapon modification?
It can't shoot like an imperial hammer, it needs to be recharged every time before each burst
