So... If the BGS is open only, does that mean I get difficulty options, the ability to turn off interdictions or NPC pirates or the negatives from being too close to stars? I mean, if Open gets the unique features of the BGS and the universe, how about just making private groups their own game altogether that we can customise.

Or is Sandro just a clueless that craps on DBOBE's reputation by association? That Sandro is officially one of my most disliked people in all of video gaming. He will single-handedly on everything that made ED outstanding. I hope Sandro gets fired and, no, that's not an exaggeration. I will go out of my way to avoid any game or company that hires or associates with him. I'm genuinely seething mad at the possibility he wants to wiggle his fat, stupid fingers into ruining the universe for the sake of murder hobo game-rapists, people so obnoxious and unpleasant that I can only assume they're his personal friends and Sandro simply just doesn't give a about others so long as he gets his game.

I'm done. Forever. I'm SO glad I managed to get a refund on my lifetime pass. What a waste that would've been.

Right now it is a proposal for PP to be open only, but if it goes through any credibility of Sandros saying it won't happen to BGS goes out the bloody window.

Lots of people don't think it will happen.

Then again, lots of people didn't ever think standard game features would ever become mode-exclusive, either.

MC, Wings, Squadrons, etc. were all features that were introduced as such... PP was not.

I personally hope he doesn't go that far... my hope is that even if PPOO becomes a thing he'll back off once he realizes just where the agenda really leads to.

Even if PPOO becomes a thing and BGS manipulation is forced to OO - there are a whole bunch of gitted gud network engineers* willing to assist and a whole bunch of potato routers available for purchase

*sadly, I'm just a mainframe hardware guy

Sando Calrissian afaik floated the idea of Power Play being Open only, not the BGS too. That was a rumour that gained space legs.

Honestly couldn't care less about PP. Never did it, never will, they can condemn it to the wastes of open if they really think it'll make a difference.

Not impressed by the constant nagging and egging on from the devs to have us all play in open. If I wanted to do that, I'd be there now. Hopefully one day they'll stop trying to tell me how to play the game and just give me a solid game to play.

Great idea, needs weight and incentives.
IE give greater rewards in Open, PP Cmdr enemy kills especially.

That is not something I considered, I admit I haven't really looked into Squadrons because I thought it was more of a PVPish thing.
