Greetings,
Loved the OPs satire! Worried that some posters didn't get it...Then again maybe the OP was serious. Can't really tell.
Didn't you see Logan's Run (c1976)? An old movie most young people never heard of much less seen. Today it wouldn't hold their attention for more than five minutes as Industrial Light and Magic didn't do the special effects. It didn't work out for all those young people having a party life thinking that they new everything about their world then required to die at age 30.
Year 2020 the world is in a mess...Well, it's always been in a mess because humans find amazing ways to mess it up. Given the political indoctrination of students and some of the silliest degrees ever conceived at major college universities many would probably agree with "Let's party then die at 30".
So what 20 year old is going to have the resources, experience and dedication to advance our world with real science, philosophy, finances, politics and human nature? just getting to a Bachelor's degree comes at best age 22. What change with young college students protesting in San Francisco is going to change the world with too many dictators killing their population all for power and greed?
Human evolution started about seven million years ago probably when some apelike creatures in Africa began to walk habitually on two legs. Their emotions are still deep within our genes. Today's technology isn't the problem. It just gives us a more efficient way to hate or kill each other who disagree with us.
If aliens from other planets might be checking on us they are not going to land until we get our act together.
Meanwhile some people older than 20 who without them we wouldn't have their imaginations in our lives.
David Braben 56
Ian Bell 58
George Lucas 76
Steven Spielberg 73
Isaac Asimov died at 72
Robert Heninlein died at 77
Ray Bradbury died at 92
You can add many more.
Douglas Adams only made it to age 49 collapsing while working out in a gym in Santa Barbra, CA. That darn high blood pressure the heart doesn't like. Still where would we be without the definitive "Don't Panic" encyclopedia all space travelers should carry. Don't forget your towel...
