Baron Rank: How Long

It's really sad. And when you realize that the same people who complain that SC travel is boring chose THIS as their gameplay.. well..

Unfortunately, it's the only way to earn rank/credits at a more reasonable pace. If you're one of those people that likes just aimlessly tooling around the galaxy, exploring and whatnot, then that's great. Some of us are more goal-orientated.
I want a gorillion credits and all the ships, modules, weapons and upgrades I can get my greedy little fingers on in the least amount of time possible.

its really not complicated, pick a nice empire system in empire space fill up with missions, go hand in missions and take more missions there, empire missions are everywhere when you are in the middle of there space.

Can't hurt to look for systems in boom, made a fortune doing hauling missions (and some others, like data delivery, everything thats done quick) without any board flipping and at the same time got the rank for a cutter.

I work hard enough during the day. I see no reason why I should bring this mentality into a game in the evenings...

I’m looking to get Baron Rank (and the Imperial Clipper) ASAP from no Rank with the Empire at the moment. I’m planning to be in V374 Pegasi when I start work. Any advice on what the fastest way to do this is? I’ve looked at other forum posts, and they all seem to say the same thing: missions. Is this seriously the best way to do this? If so, about how long will it take and are there any systems that you would recommend for doing this that are reasonably close (< 50 ly) to V374 Pegasi? Are only Empire systems good for earning rep?

Also, is Achenar a good place to rank up with the empire since it is the capital? Would it be better to go there once I get a permit?

On another note, once I do get the Rank, what is the best way to earn the 22m cr required to buy it? Is it trading, mining, bounty hunting, fighting in conflict zones, or just more missions?

Traditionally: Run the missions between HIP 10716 and Wu Guinagi. Once you get there, they are very close to each other (1 Jump). Most missions run in or between the two systems. Bring a medium size ship cause these systems have 3 Outposts, 1 Station, and 1 Planetary (3M, 2L) between them. This is the "classic" place to increase Imperial Rank. Lots of data missions but also cargo missions (Commodities and Metals)...

You may consider avoiding combat as you're likely to kill Imperial aligned NPCs which will harm your progress somewhat.

Donation missions are hands down the quickest, if you have the cash.
Getting to Baron is easy if you focus on that aspect.

Enjoy the *Courier*!
;)

I've a place you can try grinding up rep at.

Head on over to HIP 8758. Courier missions to HIP 8444. HIP 8444 has courier missions that go back. Both are loaded with donation missions, but that may be because one of the factions in HIP 8444 is in an economic Bust.

Note that this will take a medium sized ship at the biggest as the station in HIP 8444 is an outpost.

Nope, I made rank for Cutter and Corvette by doing donations, and never needed to board flip.
If you find a few good donation systems it's easy, and you can focus on making credits instead of doing low paying data missions.

I would frequently spend ~10 million per station visit on donations, yet I still had the funds for the Cutter and Vette as soon as I had the rank.

Just take the highest paying missions that do not hurt your progress (yes, some missions do that) and spend as much as possible on donations.

I did this from none to Duke. The only downside is both stations are between 2-3k from their star. I watched a lot of movies while doing this grind.

As other players have said, if you must have it now and are OK with the thought of the grind, go for it. Just know that it will be a grind. While grinding for the Duke rank, twenty courier missions netted me about 6-7% rank each trip. I don't want to dissuade you from doing this activity, I just want you to know what you are getting into.

good advice :)
took me 2yrs to get the cutter:)

Took me 6 hours and 100 mil to get Cutter (i am talking about rank only) and without the fliping . Without wasting money it would take about ~10 hours of gameplay

Systems are Ngalinn and Mainani .

Single outpost in each system , they give courier/boom missions to each other and so many of these that you could fill 3 ships without fliping . They give donation missions too.
