Well, I guess they want people to put in the work for this one, then.
Generally it’s just core damage, anything else does not cause any to the Titan.n00b question: when it says 'Aegis scanners will record any damage inflicted on Cocijo by individual ships.', are we really talking 'any' damage, or just core damage? I'm confused...

After ~20 interdictions, once you reach the core, it's dead easy.

NB. My reading of the rules is this:
1. If you register at the Hutner megaship @Luyten's Star, you get those fancy FSDs as a reward, provided you contributed anything (what exactly, Titan core damage?).
2. To get the decal, the usual rules might apply (or not): 2m credit equivalent of damage done to the Core pineapple.
So I did AX damage worth 4.8m credits to the Core Pineapple to be on the safe side.
After ~20 interdictions, once you reach the core, it's dead easy.

I don't think you need to register at Hutner or anywhere else. Without registering, I went to cocijo and did some core damage then went to Cornwallis and looked at the community goal part of the mission board, where I found I was already registered and showing a contribution for the CG. It certainly can't hurt to register though!
Titan core damage, yes (it is the only damage you can inflict on a Titan anyway). However it also appears you don’t actually need to sign up to this particular CG beforehand and it will happen automatically if you take potshots at the thermal core. That’s what reports are saying anyway, I’m not able to confirm personally.
I still find it strange how surviving a Titan is a dozen times easier than taking on a Hydra outside of such an environment, even knowing the approach to both scenarios is very different.
Nanite torpedoes do zero damage, their only purpose is to disrupt heat vents. Just fire the multis at it for results.
Premium ammo, a Python Mk2 setup with all shard without torpedo, a wingmate to bomb vents and you can do big numbers screenshot zeroing the pineapple... your 18M is very good, btw ED is a game and the goal is to have fun and everyone has their own.

Don't follow Titan nav marker - "It's a lie". Aka jumps all over the place and does not tell you where to go. Align centrally with the cloud in supercruise and keep heading as straight as possible, toward a part of the cloud which appears in a deeper, more noticeable red color. Go toward that then, and you find the Titan.
Also make sure to have the Pulse Neutralizer bound to a firegroup or hotkey and ready. And to have it equipped, of course.
Well if it has not already finished, and if I am lucky enough to get back on game tomorrow night, perhaps I can waste another hour and a half of my life trying to make this load of cocijo make sense...
Only tried for the splendid reward on offer. Does not honestly feel like it's an achievable goal for me at this point though.
