Be honest everyone. Who will most likely purchase the Python MkII..?

It melts if you try to use all 6 harpoints?

If you compare the F-22/F-35 to 4th gen fighters like F15/16/18, you might also wonder why to bother with them at all. Still, they're vastly superior, just not designed for high g curve fights anymore. It might be the same here too ;)

IMHO, the Python II has 'Stealth' written all over it.

At least the P2W argument is completely out of the way I think!

My PvP skills are woeful but I can’t see them being helped by the internals of the P2. Very little room for HRP and MRPs, some SCB space I suppose but it looks a little lacklustre for me. Trading out, combat (maybe not totally) out, but it doesn’t look a ‘go to’ for combat. Exploration…maybe?
I don’t care about PvP combat, but with the extra utilities my hope would be a good shield value from the size 6 with others 4/1 hrp and 3/1 mrp to get good protection and resists across the board, and Python convergence with that firepower will be nice even with a 6 PP & PD to force choices on load out. Speed, handle, and shield value will be the make or break for me on replacing Chieftain as my go to no nonsense get stuff done bounty hunter/CZ ship.
At the very least it should include a C4/5 military slot.
Agree it is odd not to get military slot if the idea here is a combat ship.

Oh dear, it's not a very good ship after all. I wonder what the different functionality is meant to be?
Saw a streamer read the ship text (shipyard) description, it explicitly states something about improved performance with SCO drives.

If this means that it's the only ship compatible with the 5A SCO or some other hidden stat, I have no idea. But I think this is the "functional difference" mentioned by FDEV on stream.

Hmm... I'm somewhat underwhelmed by the optional internal space... 🤔

Definitely not worth an early access for Arx imho... At least not for me, ymmv though... 🤷‍♂️

And the Arx price for the prebuilt version is... well... 🤷‍♂️

On discord, someone has mentioned that it is much more stable, cooler & fuel efficient in SCO active... We need more info!
Titan bomber then, or another boring CZ ship. But it will look great with Void Black paint - in August. The SCO stability might be because they demo a 5A version ?

Odd ship. 4 large + 2 medium hardpoints, 6 utility slots. So one more large plus 2 utility slots. Python II degrades both power plant and distributor slots from 7 to 6. Optional internals are really stripped, 6-4-3-2-1-1-1, that's a major downgrade (Python I has 6-6-6-5-5-4-3-3-1-1). No trader obviously, but likely a stealth fighter or something that makes sense elsewhere. What might be the special ability?

I'll definitely buy it anyway for three reasons:

1. Support of the game (because it needs to create revenues to justify its existence)
2. It looks cool!
3. Because I can.

Yup those are some of my reasons also...

From viewing it in use on twitch, it is uniquely able to combat the SCO wobble and to an extent the thermals.

It seems engineerable A grade SCO drives will be on sale for credits and able to be fitted in other ships when the preview build is out in full, but the Python MkII will have the thermal and stability advantage - this is just inference and could easily be wrong though. A definitive statement would be good here I think.

Hello,

i started with Elite Dangerous in 2016, had a couple of breaks, the last one when Odyssee startet (had nothing to do with it) and last week i started playing it again. There are around 2,000 + hours of playing for around 150€ within eight! years. And because i don't think to rule the game with the Python MkII i'm going to purchase it.
Where is 'pay to win' in this game just because you are flying that vessel? I bet any average PvP player in a proper engineered Imperial Courier shoots me out of whatever i'm flying.
Btw. i spend at least 90% of the time playing in my Python! Trade & Exploration = Elite. Fight = lousy (Expert)
No guilty conscience

From what I've read since I didn't watch the streams, it looks like a hot running shield tank that may forego SCBs since those get cascaded usually anyway. Idk, seems like a unique change of pace, but SCO is more or less not something I'm worried about in the Bubble in Open until I can add Fast Boot.

Seems like heavy hitting ship for sure, but at the same time... waiting until August still it looks like.

The most exciting bit (from Ricardo's second video):
5A-SCO.png

Optimized mass: 1175 tons! Normal 5A is 1050 tons...

Folks, if these stats are final and A grade SCO-s can be engineered, 5A SCO drive can have slightly better range than v1 double-engineered one!

I'll definitely get it when it is released to everyone in 3 month's time. Not sure i'll use it much, but i'll get one because i have one of every ship so far, yes, even an Asp Scout.

In the test server the FSD SCO is available at all grades and is engineerable, I assume that would be all the normal FSD options/experimentals. I only watched a small portion of Ghost Giraffe's stream to see some more details but the SCO is definitely more stable. I can't say for sure if the other FSD SCO sizes/options are compatible with the other ships, but I would assume so as also the engineering ability. It also looks like the FSD OCA A rated jumps further by default than the standard FSD, which I think is interesting as currently it looks like the other FSD might just be obsolete unless there is a downside, apart from expense, that I'm unaware of?

I can't really talk about the module options being good/bad as that's not my forte, but I agree with others who say that this looks like it could be a good Titan Runner. However, I do also agree that the internals do look a bit skimpy for the size of the ship, it would be good to know if it can fit a fighter bay also, my guess is no. Still buying it as I love SCO.
