Been gone a while... what happened to the store? It had such a functional, clean interface!

Ie is FAR from the best. Its not working because you are using IE. The elite dangerous web store is not a basic website btw

A quick google shows IE in the top 3 browsers currently in use. I'm not arguing what is better. Intended functionality in the ED store is pretty normal for an online store. A computer software company should be able to develop for the top 3 browsers.

[edit: I'm just assuming it is browser specific issues. I don't know].
[edit: I should also point out I really don't care much about the store. If Frontier can't be bothered with making a good store then I can't be bothered buying something from it.]

Yeah but consider that in every Microsoft office all around the world they're using it and most probably in all big companies.
In my company we have dedicated plug-ins for our internal processes and these work only in IE and not in other browsers.
I make another example. Boeing and Airbus have dedicated websites to provide tech docs and these work only through IE. No way to access to those pages in another browser.

Frontier's store was 97% excellent when I was there last.

Now its full of meaningless, overly saturated, garish, big flat panels and minimal information...
If this was an attempt at following the latest software fashion, well, I'll abstain from telling you what I really think about it.

And "ARX" sounds like "Yuck" in another language I know... who ever picked that name?
Is this optional to use if you absolutely want buy cosmetics in-game?
Or are you forced to buy ARX even if you want to buy stuff on the website?

Yes, you must buy Arx to buy cosmetics now. It's the way of the future. It also ensures you always have a little bit left, so you're tempted to buy a little bit more, trying to reach that perfect zero balance. They think it's a psychological game they can play with us as consumers, just like they think we'll buy crap for $19.95 because it sounds like less than $20, but we've seen through that smokescreen for decades too.

Yes, the new store interface looks like butt. This too is the wave of the future. UI's must look like butt these days. I'd gladly pay money to sledgehammer some UI designer fingers on Pay-Per-View TV. None of them have any business designing anything. We'll start at Microsoft and work from there. Probably covers what you were thinking.

Its in the top 3 because is come installed on every windows computer

Ie is a horrible piece of garbage software

^^That is a cool graphic. ^^
But still, if you are creating a commercial website... you make it work on the currently accepted/used browsers. Perhaps this is one of the indicators of the overall quality of the web development done for the shop. Clearly it is just not done well.

I just tried the store using Firefox and Google Chrome and the overall formatting appears to work as intended. It is functional. So apparently they just didn't make it compatible with IE.

No one uses internet explorer except to dowload other browsers, because its slow, its ugly, the ui is bad, and it doesnt work with anything

Also, it isnt updated anymore

And its security is horrid

Yeah that's the situation at my client too, global blue chip corporation with over 140k employees. They still use IE11 (piece of biowaste that it is) despite having upgraded to W10 a while back, they use it for all their intrasites and applications rely on it for better or worse. If I want to surf the web, I use Firefox instead.

On my personal computers, one of the first things I did was to remove/disable IE/Edge and replace them with FF. Never looked back as it is (imho) the best browser out there especially if you value your (relative) privacy.

Obfuscated its the Elite dangerous way, but a store and off line store there is indeed, however clunky it is.

welcome back!

hopefully next time your back we will have small seismic charges too!

Or are you forced to buy ARX even if you want to buy stuff on the website? Nobody forces you to buy ARX if you don't want to buy stuff. If you don't want to buy stuff, just ignore it and play the game which, incidentally, gives you free ARX as you play.

But yes, all transactions are now in ARX. Not everyone is happy about that but 🤷‍♂️

I'll be buying less if I have to purchase fixed amounts of ARX that don't match the ARX I actually need to buy what I want, because I know this to be a common corporate tactic, to string people along, because they can never quite use up all the ARX they have in their account. The common idea behind this is to trick people into buying more than they otherwise would. Since I find that tactic dishonorable, I can assure Frontier, I will be buying less, rather than more, because I detest any attempt at herding people like sheeple to a shearing.

Must have copied that from EA or some such creepy outfit. Cartel Points, anyone?

I saw some people mistook my initial comment as "raging". That is funny. I simply enjoy such things as sarcasm. Then again its a game forum, where only 3 types of interaction are recognised. Whatever doesn't fit will be called something else :D

The browser based store returned over a week ago.

dlc.elitedangerous.com
Ah, that's why its a dysfunctional train wreck! Its in its first week!

After much labor, I still can't check out with my 5,000 ARX entering the checkout page causes a meltdown: "Internal Server Error"
(using the latest version of Opera, which is now basically Chrome with different UI graphics)

I have lost 13x more in billable time than 5000 ARX are "worth"...

What happened? This :

(to see how well that went - just read through the comments and reactions ;) )
hahaha

The Culprits should be rounded up asap and sedated to avoid further damage.
We cannot allow some rogue Frontier employees to bankrupt the company by eliminating income from cosmetic items for extended periods of time.

If you want to be taken serious, at least rotate your avatar 90 degrees counterclockwise, Niels.
Just saying.

For the topic, I like Arx.
Next thing you tell me to cut my hair!
Good thing its not rotated counterclockwise...

As for ARX, I wanted a paint Job for 2200 ARX.
But you can only buy 5000 ARX or more.
So if I eventually bought 2 paint jobs, I'd still have 600 ARX, which aren't enough to buy another paint job.
Of course, this remains theoretical, since the online store imploded with an "internal server error" every time I tried to check out.

So I have no Arx, no Erx and no paint snob.

You think its mucous, but...

"Frontier Forums would like your permission to enable push notifications." "NOO!" After observing store functionality, I must be concerned they could accidentally push my computer off the desk while I'm not watching...

Actually 600 is more than enough for a paint job, use the other small bits for decals and the like, theyre only 20 each.
