Best Flight Stick - suggestions needed

A statement that couldn't be further from the truth.
Microsoft Sidewinder 3d Pro was the first twisting stick that I remember and I have used a twist yaw since then.
That stick was out mid 90's!

Actually, I've had that stick, it had a really nice button layout, but needs MARs Sensors and better quality buttons.

And I know not what you are referencing, but my wrists have thanked my since I have been using rudder pedals for yaw.

It's awesome - they are actually far more precise than twist yaw, I can make adjustments I never could with twist.

i bought the x52 in feb this year, i heard all the tales of poor quality, but mine from Amazon for £99.98 has been great, no problems in 7 mnths, and is a great hotas for ED.

Oh and while I'm here a quick plug for my HOTAS reference sheet generator. Link in the sig, but it takes your binds file and creates a handy reference sheet, for example:

I'm currently using the x52 and it works okay, but it does feel very cheap and I expect it to break any moment. I'm saving up for the Warthog, but I'm kind of at a loss for what to do about rudder control. After buying the Warthog I'll be lucky to have $100.00 left over for any other peripherals; suggestions?

I initially got pedals for yaw, but then installed the Warthog into a recliner, so no more pedals. Now I use the 5-way hat under the thumb on the joystick for Yaw-Left and Yaw-Right. It takes a little getting used to, but I'm completely comfortable with it now.

To those saying don't bother buying a Warthog for Elite, all I can say is, fascists! :D j/k! Seriously though, there is no need to drive a sportscar to work or the grocer, but if you can, I highly recommend it! [yesnod]

Mine too! My right hand was having serious problem with carpal tunnel and the rudder pedals have helped that immensely.

How many times do you need to bind the thrust axis? You've got like 3 hat switches all set for thrust... :S

Interesting readings in this thread, i didn't expect Saitek to have that many issues with their product... i'm also looking to change my stick for a more accurate one, i wanted a X52 but i'll think twice now

My Saitek cyborg 3d gold USB from the 90s is still working great!

[hotas] I dunno. It started in the throttle when the plastic piece that makes the indent came loose. Then the default boost button stopped responding, and then the castle-hat on the stick stopped responding, and then the stick itself started to separate.

I'm not rough on my gear, it just started to fall apart. So far two buttons on the X55 throttle have stopped responding after a year of use [sad]

Same here, the H4 and E button on the throttle stopped working. (1yr 2days of use)

just sent mine back for a RMA, offered an X56 as a replacement as the X55 is no longer in stock.

just waiting now for the unit to be sent from oxford.

So all is good, and its sort of a free upgrade [wacky]

Big thanks for that tip! I'm trying to avoid getting pedals with that setup if I can, so this option may work for me, too. I hope.

I use a t16000 for my left hand, and a ch fighter stick for the right. Between the two, I've got all the buttons I need, and both sticks perform wonderfully at their respective jobs.
