Interesting. The x52 just uses "twist" on the stick for controlling the rudder and that seems very intuitive, but the Warthog doesn't have that option; where would you suggest binding the rudder in that case?
To.. Erm.. A rudder.

A statement that couldn't be further from the truth.
Microsoft Sidewinder 3d Pro was the first twisting stick that I remember and I have used a twist yaw since then.
That stick was out mid 90's!
Yaw becomes unconscious. FA off is easier too. Those of you using pedals... how much of a difference does it make to ED?
Oh and while I'm here a quick plug for my HOTAS reference sheet generator. Link in the sig, but it takes your binds file and creates a handy reference sheet, for example:

I'm currently using the x52 and it works okay, but it does feel very cheap and I expect it to break any moment. I'm saving up for the Warthog, but I'm kind of at a loss for what to do about rudder control. After buying the Warthog I'll be lucky to have $100.00 left over for any other peripherals; suggestions?
Some of the older high quality pre-madcatz sticks might still be in stock at various places.
Actually, I've had that stick, it had a really nice button layout, but needs MARs Sensors and better quality buttons.
And I know not what you are referencing, but my wrists have thanked my since I have been using rudder pedals for yaw.

Interesting readings in this thread, i didn't expect Saitek to have that many issues with their product... i'm also looking to change my stick for a more accurate one, i wanted a X52 but i'll think twice now
[hotas] I dunno. It started in the throttle when the plastic piece that makes the indent came loose. Then the default boost button stopped responding, and then the castle-hat on the stick stopped responding, and then the stick itself started to separate.
I'm not rough on my gear, it just started to fall apart. So far two buttons on the X55 throttle have stopped responding after a year of use [sad]
I initially got pedals for yaw, but then installed the Warthog into a recliner, so no more pedals. Now I use the 5-way hat under the thumb on the joystick for Yaw-Left and Yaw-Right. It takes a little getting used to, but I'm completely comfortable with it now.
To those saying don't bother buying a Warthog for Elite, all I can say is, fascists!j/k! Seriously though, there is no need to drive a sportscar to work or the grocer, but if you can, I highly recommend it! [yesnod]
How did you break yours after just 4 months?
I've been using mine (and still am) for more than a year now and it's not showing any signs of failure.
Same i've had mine for nine month and it's still like new , i think some folk are a bit heavy handed with there's
