Best loadouts and tips for escaping PvP'ers

Probably true, but I do really like seeing lots of other players flying around. Even in Mobius there isn't even close to the same level of activity as there is in Open. Ah well, best not turn this into another Open PvE thread ;)

I just sent a request to join mobius actually, because why not, I play in solo mostly anyway, so why not spice it up.

It's up to you how you play, all I can do is give you options.

Do you need any of this advice in an Orca that can boost to 588M/S ?

Depends on what kind of ship is interdicting you and what kind of weapons with which effects they are running.

Seeker missiles run at 625 m/s, a god rolled Clipper is just short of 650 m/s, a Taipan may boost to 560 m/s, my Sidey now boosts to 670 m/s (but can't yet punch well enough to dent your shields - and, at that speed, has enough problems of his own ), a speed optimized Courier is around 750 m/s (but will be very fragile - not that this will be of any consolation if you can't bring down its shields).

why don't you get someone to wing up with you for defense/ allowing you to escape any interdictions?

Boosts all day and can maintain 550M/S and charge FSD no problem. Runs cool.

Orca - FTW

I use a 660 boost adder with 32ly jump range, srv and shields but no guns
adders speed always catches them by surprise, only ever been killed by one cmdr with long range rail guns!

My tradeaconda:

5A prismatic shield generator (thermal resistant mod)
4 x engineered shield boosters
Chaff
2 x point defence, to take care of the Grom FSD missile
G5 DD tuning - can boost to 360 fully laden
Twin mine launchers - one with shift lock canister (knocks out FSD), the other with ion disruptor (knocks out engines).

If interdicted i immediately submit, put the attacker on my 6 o'clock and boost away, deploying mines as I go. Most people don't expect you to defend yourself and so walk straight into them. With their engines and FSD disabled I then show them a clean pair of heels.

I'm not claiming it is totally un-griefable. But nobody has managed it yet...

Look, I'm not bad at evading interdictions, nor do I do stupid shieldless or d rated shield builds in open. But, when you are successfully interdicted by god rolled FDLs that are somehow still in the game, it just doesn't feel good.

So, as open isn't going to suddenly have less gankers and greifers any time soon, I stick to solo, although sometimes I multi crew because it's fun.

But, if I want to meet new people, as it is nice to make new friends, I'll give mobius a go, to see how it is.

If others want to stick to open, I don't blame them. Some people like to go against the flow, not me. People can call me a bad player all they like with how I play (docking computer for life), but that doesn't make it true, so I don't care.

Play how you want to play, not how others tell you to.

I fully agree. More a suggestion for those wanting to keep playing in open - just another tactic to help make journeys safer

Personally the risk of open is part of the interest.

Definitely true.

Personally speaking I only do Commodity Trading for CGs because this is where the pirates congregate. Then I waste their time by having them interdict my Cutter, which is the very next thing this game has to invincible - it boosts out to 450 fully loaded (704t) and has 14k of highly resistant shielding (w/ 4 pips). Or you could go Jonathan's way and try to take an active defense approach.

The point is that unless a specific playstyle actually appeals to you, as an individual, then why would you torture yourself doing it if you don't have to? Non-sensical on it's face. Open/Solo is 100% a playstyle issue and it's no-one else's business how anyone plays their own video games, as long as they do so within the rules.

There is something rather satisfying about taking on the griefers and beating them at their own game. Recently I got pulled four times in a row by the same Corvette - each time he got stung by the mines and I escaped easily. By the end I wasn't sure who was trolling who...

You can also have some fun with NPCs...

I thought you were talking to me personally sorry. I don't have any problems with you, just certain members of the community...

See, there are so many people how complain about open, then say how much of a scrub you are if you stick to solo. It hypocritical and that's the one thing that drives me crazy.

It's not just that either, it's people who tell you your dumb for not liking a ship, such as the FDL, when what you want to fly is say a FAS (personal experience).

Honestly these players annoy me more than any greifer, becuase they feel their 'opinion' is the best one. It's not, that's why it's called an opinion.

And it's not just in game where people act like this, it's real life to. The thing I try to escape by playing this game .

Just, can we all agree to disagree, please, I'm tired of all the people who think they know better. People aren't lesser than you, we are all equal.

Sorry for the rant. Rant over.

I wondet if its ok to load every hardpoints of a conda with shock mines and dump them all while you fly erratically

That would probably be fun, but it does require some coordination, and I mostly just log on to Elite whenever I have a spare hour and start flying some missions from wherever I am. Gankers are only an issue if you go somewhere popular, but that is also where the game feels most alive :) Seeing other Commanders flying around, going about their business makes me feel like I am in a living breathing universe. Solo just doesn't cut it, and Mobius doesn't have enough players.

Hence my attempt to figure out how to evade the wings of griefers pulling you out of Supercruise "for the lolz". I know they are there, and part of the risk of flying in Open :) So, all tips are welcome!

(Note: Personally I will block those who attack without warning or in-game context, in an attempt to create my own Open PvE mode, but I would like to avoid a 30 million rebuy for each blocked commander ;))

See my Anaconda build on the previous page - gets clean away every time. I happily get interdicted as it’s good fun leaving them behind in my exhaust trail! And it’s an extra challenge - makes trading a bit more exciting.

I wonder if its ok to load every hardpoints of a conda with shock mines and dump them all while you fly erratically

Don’t put them on the class 2 hardpoints on the nose - they will just blow up on your ship as they don’t get ejected far enough to clear the stern, where the Anaconda is widest. I would also avoid the forward class 3 spot as the mines probably won’t clear the keel. I put my launchers on the topside class 3s.

Stack HD boosters and mod reinforced shield. Fast boot or shielded FSD. MRPs. G5 DD and fully FA off for agility. Situational awereness in the first place. Advanced tactics (see.rinzler's guide).
