My strategy would be ditch (or stow) the cobra and get a viper for maneuverability. Small hardpoints on lasers, medium hardpoints w/ cannons and try to stay under/behind him to minimize exposure to weapons.
The other strategy that I might employ when I feel ready to give it a whack would be the strategy people are suggesting w/ missiles. I'd probably swap the cannons for missiles. Make fast runs back and forth with lasers to hit shields, and then fire off some missiles. Rinse and repeat til you've spent your prospective earnings in ammo.![]()
There is a mission that pays out 100grand for taking out an anaconda criminal ship. What weapons are good for this? I saw someone online using a cannon with signature tracking.
I upgraded my thrusters as well to try and outmaneuver it.
I think it's easier to kill than to outmaneuver an Elite Anaconda in Beta3. Shield cells are your friends. I use a mix of lasers and multicannons on my Cobra.
I expect this to be balanced in the final game, but right now its even too easy to kill those npc Condas...
I got almost 80k credits just in 2 bounties for killing a wanted NPC Anaconda in LP a couple days ago, was not even in a mission.

I would rather try in a sidewinder, I think...Should I try with an eagle? lol
Dumbfire missiles are the top dog for taking on Anacondas but they are expensive.
.
No other weapon even comes close. I run 5 dumbfire missile racks on my ASP and can take down a Conda in less than a minute.
.
I don't make a lot of dough because of the cost of missiles but its worth it just for the laugh..

LOL thats too expensive to be a legit strategy.
I thought the cobra was better for fighting than viper since it got nerfed?
Multi cannons. Not the cheapest but lets you run with pips to shields.
I don't feel this is the case, but many people do (most of whom I don't think know what they doing with either ship...but a few do).
I generally have no trouble taking down NPC Anaconda, even with half a pip in SYS most of the time, without using any SCBs. And this is in protracted engagements where I'm using nothing but lasers.
