Well MTU is interesting. I'm located in germany and was in Teamspeak with someone who has Cable Connection via "Kabel Deutschland", a Telekom Technician and myself who uses ADSL16k with Deutsche Telekom.

However, my friend located at Kabel Deutschland as its provider (and using cable) hadn't had any problems connecting this evening, besides he got some disconnects when jumping in another system. My game still freezes at the Menu screen with Telekom.

After I googled and speak to the technician Kabel Deutschland uses 1500 MTU as Standard and Deutsche Telekom 1492.

If this really is the problem it would explain many things. Besides that most providers still use 1492.

If it's a purely MTU thing, then that's a bad choice on FD's side, not ours. Many types of connection can't hit 1500 MTU due to ISP / protocol limits, so I doubt it's purely this.

if 1492 is standard then it has to be resolved there end cant imagine they would expect us all to change how we connect so I shouldn't be worried

Just got it all downloaded and had a quick 10 minute go before I head for bed.

I got the bug with the black screen in open play, but luckily solo worked fine for me.

All I can say is I am a very happy boy indeed, it far exceeds my biggest hopes. Fantastic job everyone in FD , thank you very much.

Cheers!!

I've been able to play Solo (Not tried Open yet in 2.02) more or less fine for the past two and a half hours. A few points on what remaining issues I'm having.

In the 2.5 hours I've played I've had 3 or 4 crashes to desktop upon exiting FSD or Hyperspace.

After these CTD's, twice when I tried to reconnect I got dropped back at the main menu with an unable to connect message but was able to jump right back on with a second try.

Small thing I've noticed is that running the game in a window, when I remove focus from ED it causes my entire OS to stutter slightly. This goes away when focus returns to ED. I'm running 3 monitors (with ED on the central primary), and use windowed to avoid the delay when switching.

A few minor interface issues but nothing too crippling, I'll try and get around to raising tickets for them later.

Aside from this, 2.02 is looking good. Managed to complete two assassination missions which netted me about 100k in total. I flew out to Meher Stellar Research Outpost in i Bootis and saw that what used to be the "Brown" Dwarf is now bright pink/purple which was odd. I see now that there are different KS scanners etc, which I'm gussing the more expensive ones are faster. The KS scanner (the cheap 15k one) has has it's range improved over the Beta 1 version which is nice. Gonna look into upgrading to an Eagle or maybe a Viper (which seems a bargain at 80k) soon.

Them of this should have been known for a long time: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=29477&page=5

Maybe just have not heard yet ...

Deleted my save from this morning. Finally got solo to connect, had a twirl around LP198-32 looking for gold. This seems to be much harder than before, less gold and constant interdictions from hostiles. Picked up some clothing so did make some money. Notice in my status that kills from beta 1 are still showing. Disconnected when looking at the outfitting menu. Game looks great

If it's a P2P design flaw, how come it's hitting now? Has the technology just changed? Besides, it's a server side issue, as stated by FD in another post. P2P clients don't control logons.

They will get a fix soon, Have faith ;)

Seriously? Problem is with connection between client and server.

Id say its the Peer to Peer thats the problem, i cant jump to any system at all in Open Play.
In Solo Play its much more stable and im only getting the odd crash when dropping out of SC.

If its the servers then i would be getting the same issue all the time no matter what mode im playing....:S

Well, I'm giving up and going to bed. I appreciate the efforts FDEV are putting in, though I'm disappointed, was really looking forward to trying out Beta 2 properly.

I tried setting my router MTU to 1500, but it doesn't seem to be an option on my BT Infinity router.

Depends on which problem you're talking about. Many of us still can't logon, so not P2P. Dropping out of SC crash 'could' be P2P, but not necessarily. We don't know the exact architecture or process involved during that transition in either gameplay mode. It's purely conjecture on our part.

Either way, have faith. They have some very good techie guys there. They'll find a way :)

Changed MTU to 1500 (it's 1400 normally), Internet barely work, Elite simply refuse to load launcher. Fail.

40Mb VPN over 1000Mb fiber channel.

Hey, im fairly happy with what ive managed to get out of ED tonight, only had two crashes since i started Solo mode and managed to make around 30k credits already and ive only done around 5 missions.
Seems pretty easy to earn credits at the moment, much easier than Beta 1.06.

The newsfeeds and new station menu layout is great and the System views from the galaxy map are just awesome, so much information and im so glad theres more than one station per system now.

Really feels like the Elite universe is finally coming together.
I hope you all manage to get on soon, hopefully the Devs will sort it by tomrrow dinner time. :D
