3.05 seems to have fixed all my disconnect / disappearing mission issues.

Spoke too soon. Today I keep getting disconnected as soon as the game starts in either Open or Solo with "Disconnect: MissionUpdateFail" errors in the logs. Only thing I can do to actually get into the game is to clear my save (5th or 6th time now).

I have an ongoing ticket open for this issue since the 1st Nov that I keep updating, so FD are aware of it.

thanks for the update.

really wish someone would from FD would post about fixing the stuttering. crash fixes are great, but a huge number of people have the networking-caused stuttering problems galore. Its game breaking. surely this should be highest, urgent priority. ?

It's a bigger issue than a small update can fix. Expect it to be addressed on the 22nd

Not heard of that one. Sounds more like a hardware issue than a game issue.

Nope. Never had that. Probably an issue with your PC I'm sorry to say. Is your screensaver/screen off in power options set to 20min by any chance? Sometimes games do not convey input to windows, so it's as if you've gone AFK (though I haven't seen this with ED personally)...so I'd disable that stuff and see if anything changes.
 
For me the whole stuttering has stopped. That must be infuriating to the devs - why should it be fine for one user and not another? I was silly and made two changes at once, the update and new nvidia drivers so perhaps for me it is a combination of the two?

I tried the update last night and experienced major stutter nearing Beagle 2 in SC.

At lunchtime today I tried the Nvidia "fix" and went into game briefly - had a bit of stutter but nothing like last night - will try more extensively later and see...
 
Yeah, I was afraid you might say that. Doesn't happen on any other game though.
What other games do you play?

To test your hardware:
  • Processor = Download and run Prime95, selecting Small FFTs, for 30min+
  • Memory = Again using Prime95, this time selecting Blend, for 30min+
  • Graphics = Download & run Furmark for 30min+
If all your hardware passes (i.e. no crashes or lockups running above tests) ensure all your drivers are up to date:
  • Chipset
  • Graphics
  • Audio
  • Network
...and all Windows updates are installed too.
 
Cheers for that GTuk, Ill give Prime 95 and Furmark a go. All firmware and drivers are up to date though. Im on Windows 8 but reluctant to update to 8.1 as the last time I did got a BSOD and it mangled my hard drive big time (this is a known issue with windows 8.1 ). Im usually playing Arma III or BF4 so the GFX and CPU load on both of those is not insignificant.

Stuttering GONE for me.

No network issues or rubberbanding or anything of the sort after a 2.5hour session all over the core systems.

Lots and lots of players.

Stuttering in SC near planets is fixed for you?

Yes, I had the workperframe set to 192 from before this update, and I'm running at a low resolution too (1176 x something) as my GPU is a little underpowered. I haven't had any stuttering tonight in SC or near planets. I'm having a nice smooth experience. 3.04 stuttered like crazy in SC.

I think the stuttering is all network related stuff.

Over 2.5 hours of play last night with not a single CTD or server disconnect. Given in Beta 3.0 I was crashing literally every 20 minutes, this is a MASSIVE improvement.

However it seems to have come at the cost of multiplay. In recent weeks I have regularly seen 6-12 players in a single instance at a time. Last night I was lucky to see 1 or 2 in Aulin system. Aulin Enterprises has recently had 6 or so players moving in and out of the station at a time for me, last night I never saw more than 2 at a time last night, and for great periods of time while I was lurking (waiting Boba Fete style to ambush naughty wanted players...) outside the station, I saw zero.

I felt very lonely.

In Australia here if that has any impact on instancing and my resultant loneliness.
