I think this is a bit of a bone throwing exercise to be honest but i appreciate the thought nevertheless.

rather you guys put the effort into beta 2.0 though :D

More likely because they want to test these bug fixes and changes to island-ing prior to beta 2.0 release.



Also it doesn't say improvements to the number of players in an instance (that was supposed to be done by a live update recently) - "• Improvements to joining populated multiplayer islands."

I have been playing 1.04 today for the first time (holiday) and I find it much less stable than 1.03. The game has locked three times in an hour trying to hyperspace to Aulin and the exit from supercruise delay (I think this is the islands issue) still takes around a minute of juddering. The ups and downs of software development I guess.

I've also had numerous 'could not connect to server' snags. I'm on 50M cable BB so I don't think it's my ISP or connection.

Folks - a suggestion to try and move it forward (remembering this is beta).

It is quite possible that you have a fantastic bandwidth and others have much less and are dragging your experience down.

  • Check if this still occurs in solo gameplay (appreciate this might not be where you want to play right now, but try it at least)
  • Capture the network logs from the game folder
  • Capture your bandwidth as measured by (for example) SpeedTest
  • State the number range of other players when you can see the issue (above 5, not below 3 etc.)
  • Try during unusual times of day (working hours etc.) to see if the problem persists
  • Gather as much of that together and ticket it

Frontier can then work with this information to tune the performance and game settings across the network. The better documented the better :)

Given past experiences with weapon configuration (remember gimbals?) then understanding the extremes of network behaviour is good testing on Frontier's perspective. Doing this kind of change as part of releasing BETA 2 would be associated there, with a corresponding negative public experience and forum meltdown :rolleyes:

So now is the right time to do this kind of testing, with the possibility of a 1.05 being released to dial back the island size (if that is indeed the issue).

Stay calm and carry on testing, commanders!

Maybe there is a peak in the number of players right now when the update has been released.
Perhaps it'll get better in a while. *hopes*
As there was no Linux support added in 1.04,
I cannot test it myself yet. :)
 
I've played 1.04 for a few hours today, I didn't come across any problems. Then again I've been playing on Solo, not sure if that would make any difference.
 
Gonna have to agree that this update seems to have upset the stability on the game since I updated.

1. Taking 5-8 minutes to exit supercruise
2. Space stations refusing to let me dock. Sometimes they do not even acknowledge the request. Sometimes it times out immediately and sometimes I hear a voice saying warning...
3. Multiple crashes were I have had to kill the process
Same story here.

The crashing in the jump transition - actually seems worse. So one in three transitions (roughly) it crashes.

Ship load out I currently have cannot be amended - keep getting server 1.04 error. Arrived at Freeport and no-one there, so maybe I was the only one online.

My credit earned is 78m in my stats, a bug thats been there since early Alpha. Minor I know, but there are reported bugs as tickets and they were closed and lo' they are still there. Find that irritating as an alpha tester.

But like the game, and hope the next Beta makes a serious step to the playability interaction with others etc... Last few times I have engaged another player.....it crashes !

So nope, the s/w procedures need a little work.....used to work in IT too.

getting out updates for people to test is part of beta, how can they "iron out" things without releasing them?

are you suggesting, FD does all testing inhouse now untill all bugs on any possible pc system is ironed out?

if you cant stand bugs in a beta, well wait untill release ;)

3 times trying to dock at Azeban my system has just locked up. took ages to get the docking permission first time, seemed to be better last 2 times.

I hate to say so but will hold off until 1.05

Beta not quite working right isn't really in the same category - try and keep a little perspective
 
I'll try again tomorrow, but as it stands 1.04 has given me:
- 2 infinite loading screens
- 1 hang on transition to supercruise

keep working on it guys!
 
I updated about 7pm your (UK) time. It was quick and painless.

Logging into the game takes a tad longer (up to an extra 20-30 seconds).

I tested the insurance bug (which never bit me before), by flying around Freeport in a Viper like an idiot. :D I let the station shoot me down ~10 times and got all my goodies back from my Insurance Adjuster every time. Tho he's not to keen on seeing my face again anytime soon.

PS- Saw several players in-game as well. Think it was 4-5 at most at one time.

I found mine at Chango Docks.
Mine fire on a cobra, but they do not gimble, replaced with C3 Multicannon (G). These work well. Is it me, or should that "Class 3 Gimble Multicannon" be renamed as above?

Where did you get those, I even fail to find C2 gimballed pulse lasers... :-(
 
I am having real problems around stations (i-bootis at the moment).

1) entering game hangs. Ctrl+ALt+Delete after 5 mins and try again. I ticketed this one.
2) Three times sonce 17:00 - somrehing locks in nornal space and the game freezes Ctrl+ALt+Delete. I will ticket this next time.
3) From station to SC mode, complete freeze as (2). I will re-create and ticket.

Anyone else getting anoy of these, I have started using SP mode around stations as they seem very unstable.
